Opinions wanted. Is one brand better than another? I've seen silver and black, is one superior to the other? (wear better, etc?) Now here is the real subjective question. Red Truck with Black trim it will also have a black Line-X sprayed in liner, and dark as legal tinted windows. The bumpers and wheel trim are chrome. Which color bed rail will look best? Black or Silver?

Yes different brands make different rails, some cover and wrap around the rear of the bed completely, and line up to the matching tailgate protector, and some don't. I have DeeZee rails, they are the best fit I found. Black/silver, makes no diffenence other than preferance, same material, diffenent color. Most are clear coated, which is nice until you chip the coating, then it goes to hell. You can strip them and recoat, or spent the $70-80 and get a new set every couple years.

Later, Rob

BTW, I'm partial to the shine of polished alluminum.

See how these wrap around, some brands stop at the inside of the tailgate, looks kinda silly if you ask me.

Thanks

I'm going with the DeeZee's. In black, figured I would be different and it makes a nice contrast to the Flame Red. Not going to put the LineX in until Spring. Getting to coldout and I want a good job. Also I won't be hauling much stuff until the Spring and since they will be sanding the bed anyway to install the LineX I can't hurt it too much :) Your right about if they get banded up they don't cost that much to replace ;)

Dee Zee

Pit,

You'll like the Dee Zee's. Nice fit. I used the bolts to mount them, but I also used clear Lexel and put a couple of beads on the rail before I put it on (it really sticks them down). I got the black ones, too, with a black diamond tool box (on the way). They are quite durable, however they will chip. Then like Rob said after a while they will look like hell. They are silver underneath, of course.

I had black ones on my black 2000, but I did not know what brand they were (came on the truck, it was used). They held up well. My truck is a daily driver and not used very hard. Figure if I ever scratch it I can alway touch it up.

Thanks

I didn't use any bolts on mine. I have the Dee Zee clear coated polished aluminum. I took some 3M automotive trim tape and ran three strips down the length of the side bed caps. With someone's help, carefully align them exactly where you want them and then just stick 'em on. Believe me, that stuff is sticky and they won't come off. The caps do not touch the truck anywhere and they'll leave no marks when I decide to replace them. A previous pair on my old truck chipped up the paint pretty good.
