Hey- I know the new 3rd gens have them and all fords do but did dodge ever make Factory mopar bed rail and tailgate caps for the 2nd gens? I found bushwacker but the tape thing sounds kind of lame. Does did the dodge ones mount on?

I don't know of any factory bed rails. Cabelas caries some, although I do not which brand they are, but they are held on by tape. I had stainless bed rail covers on my old 97 GMC. I put a dent in one and tried to get it off. That tape held so well, I couldn't remove the cover without bending it.

I am new here, but used to be a new car manager for Chysler during the 2nd Gen models. They have never had rail covers from the factory. Mopar did have, at one time, some Mopar parts but they used the 3M tape as well. I had some on my old truck (forgot the brand) that used 3M and they held up great. As long as the surface is clean and free of wax when you install them, you should not have any problems.

I've got a set of the bushwacker plastic rails and tailgate piece if you are looking for some. They are for a short bed. Diamond plate style without stake holes. I like the look of them, but never installed them on my truck. You'll just need some of the 3M automotive tape.

Let me know.

I bought mine for my 2000 and for my 05 through Cabellas they are the tape on I have had no trouble in 5 years they work great!!

Jrowe-

Our truck is a longbed :-( otherwise i would be interested... The tailgate cap, is it smooth or is it diamond plate too?

ICI- post the pics of the ones you have!

They had a tailgate protector that was stock on the 94-95 models I bought one for my 96 and it is still sitting in the garage. If I can remember I will bring it to work to put on the truck and grab the number off it. I don't know if anybody makes matching side rail protectors.

It's diamond plate (plastic) just like the side rails
