Could you get a 1996 or 1997 Dodge 2500 ClubCab with the short bed. Does anyone own a truck like this? How rare even if they make one?

erik

There were a few years when you couldn't get a short bed with a diesel but I'm not sure when it was. Regular cab or quad/club cab and long box were the only choices.

KRS- sorry for asking a question. damn. I thought this was a message board. I found one in OK an 01 HO but the dealer was trying to screw me, so that ended the deal so i was thinking maybe i should spend less and go to a 12v and use the extra money later on mods

erik

That HO sounded like a good deal, how was the dealer trying to screw you? I would suggest figuring out what you want and then look for that particular truck, it may take a while but you'll have what you want. Of course that's not what I did, I just fell into a great deal and couldn't pass mine up.

Tim- They took a week to send pics, didnt seem to want to answer questions. Agreed to 19k plus 299 transacation fee over . Then i got an email saying it was now 19. 4 plus 299. He said i didnt hear correctly on the phone which was a lie. Then i said whatever 19. 4k out the door and they refused so then i called and nobody called back. Then was told a few days later truck already sold... . its bs...

dont deal with the motor co in pryor ok... .

erik

i found a 98 12v 89k miles orignal owner bone stock short bed 5spd but it is green, not too fond of that color. Has anyone ever repainted their whole truck a different color? If so how much? owner old wants 16obo. not a bad deal

After 1998 here is what's available...

Reg cab / Long bed

Ext Cab / Long Bed

Ext Cab / Short Bed

Quad Cab / Short Bed

Quad Cab Long Bed

There was never a 3/4 ton+ made in a short bed, reg. cab.

Although some Reg. Cab long Beds do look like reg cab short beds.

It's going to cost about $3,000 for a good job. But,, the truck will look freakin' brand new especially if you clean up the carpet alot, and re-upholster the seats.

Gee Erik,

I hope that I didn't hurt your feelings. I knew that you must be a member here so assumed that you received a copy of the TDR "Buyer's Guide" which lists all changes to the 2nd gen trucks with models available by year, but I guess not.

Maybe TDR has stopped sending that out to new members, I don't know. But if they have stopped that nice benefit, and I sure hope that they haven't because they would have answered all of your "did they ever make a" type questions.

At least, though, they haven't removed their links to the info on the front page of the site.

Here they are: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/BuyersGuide1.htm

About the repaint? I doubt that McCummins $3,000. price will do it in california. I had a BMW done in Alameda three years ago that cost a little over $6,000. and it was a lot smaller than a truck. $3,000. might still get a job without painting the door jambs or the engine compartment if you think that you can live with them staying green.
