did i buy the wrong jake brake?

Had a factory cummins jake installed, wasn't aware it came with a noisy vacumn pump (actually makes as much noise as the engine ) is there a way to quiet the pump or "convert" it over to one of the other types? If not it appears i just ****** two grand off!

Sounds like your pump may be bad. I can't hear mine.

Just had mine installed last week. I guess that I'd have to say my vacuum makes noise also, but not as loud as the engine. Inside the truck can't hear it, but walking in front of the truck can hear an additional noise which is the vacuum pump. Not enough for me to think something is wrong, just a new noise. Did look at it and they could of put some type of a better inlet cover/muffler on it to quite it done some.

I Have A 2006 Ram, I Had The Exhaust Break Installed At The Dealer And Have No Noticeable Noise. I Would Have Them Install Another Pump. Hope This Helps

I have the same brake as you and you can hear the pump in the cab. I have gotten used to it but between the clicking of the switch on activation and the pump noise which runs all the time even if the brake is off. Have been to dealer for the noise they say it is common with this brake.

I can hear the brake engaged (like during warmup and braking) but I can't hear the vacuum pump when it is just running.....

Stupid ?, How much is this thing? I had one on my Duramax tow truck, loved it, but "P's" many people off because I let it slow down without touching the brakes, but "P" on them, lol! I might have to order it on my new truck. TEaton, can you post pics of your MC with the shell? I'm thinking of getting a Snug Top Super Sport on mine. I had one on my old Dakota and it looked sweet as seen here #ad

NO vaccum pump noise on my '03 with 54000+ miles and it gets a work out slowing my 11200 lb 5er in the hills/mountains.

No noise from the vacuum pump in about 24K... I'd demand another one under warranty.
