I had to drive 80 miles with my spare tire. 265 vs 315. I did notice a vibration just before I stopped. I temperature or the diff cover was 220* when I stopped. I don't want to get stranded on my next trip to the lake. I did change the fluid.

Thanks in advance!

I imagine it is fine, especially if the fluid looked OK and everything is normal. It probably built up some heat on the spider gear thrust washers but nothing like it would in a spinout.

Assuming this is the rear diff, if you have an LS it likely pretty well toasted the clutches in it.

If no LS then it should not be a problem.

It is LSD. If the clutches are toasted, will this leave me stranded or just make noise going around corners? How do these clutches get replaced? Am I looking at a rebuild?

If the friction surface is gone and its running metal on metal then it is likely shedding metal into oil and scoring bearings. No telling how long it will last under those circumstances.

There are clutch and friction rebuild kits or a 3rd member already built available.

Whether or not it needs bearings will take inspection. If your lucky it just cooked the frictions and has not started shedding pieces yet. Replacing the cluthch pack should alleviate the problem.
