Good afternoon,

Truck just turned 200,000 miles so I thought it was time to get some oil samples done.

Read a little about Monitor (available through Geno's) and Blackstone Labs.

Decided I'd send off a sample to each.

Rec'd back the results, each company emailed me. First off, VERY happy with the results, the engine is doing fine.

Monitor was much quicker with their results.

Blackstone has a narrative section in addition to the values; so they make some written comments.

Overall, very pleased.

What has been everyone else's opinion on the two labs (or others?)?

Thank you,

KRS

I have been using Blackstone labs for years. Very satisfied with them and happy with the writeups they give. They keep track of previous samples and include all previous results with each new sample. That way you can compare how things are going. The written comments are helpful and explain the results. I have even called them for further explanation when I didn't understand something.

I like the fact that if you request sample containers, they will send you a box of 6. That way I always have one on hand, when down to one or two, I just ask for more. They send them for free, as I pay for each sample when I send it in. Last one was $22. 50 and the results were e-mailed within 1 week of my mailing the sample. You can pre-pay for a fixed price per sample. That would be good if you did a lot of them. Go to their website, I believe you can see an example on it. Blackstone Labs

has anybody sent their samples into AMSOIL? I received a complimentary test kit and free analysis the other day. Just had blackstone test the oil. Are there any differences in the tests conducted?

I go through Amsoil, but they contract with "Polaris Labs" to do the testing. Amsoil does track all the results with a program called "Horizons". One can go to that site and look at each of the tests that were done and actually see how they were done and what equipment was used for each test. Very informational.
