Heading down the highway, coast towards a stoplight. . Light turns green. . Hit gas to go and truck dies dead... Charging system is fine. Turns over well but no start so no fuel by dead pump or faulty controls. No check engine light. Code from cycling key is just the P1693. No fuel pressure gauge installed, it's still in the box. Last I checked lift pump was moving lots of fuel. 170,000 miles on the truck I bought at 110,000. Only changed one lift pump thus far. Sound like VP44 took a plunge?? Any fuses to check other than the one box under the hood on the driver's side? I just had the dash out for a heater core, will check connections back there I reckon. Eh. Just venting and hoping for some clever ideas! Thanks.

If you bump the starter (without turning over) can you hear or feel the lift pump running? It should still run even with a bad lift pump.

I would check all the connections and grounds under the hood. To includes the ones on the VP.

If the lift pump is working, crack an injector line and see if sufficiant fuel is coming out when you crank over. Also have scanned for codes 1693 is a companion so you do have some.

The lift pump sounds and runs like it always does. Grounds and connections are a good idea, I agree. I will be doing this first to hopefully find something. The way it died a connection really could be it, just gotta find it. Thanks!

Good idea. . I'll crack stuff and follow fuel flow 'til it stops or reaches the injectors. . At least I'll know how far it's getting.

Codes is another good thing I need to do. I'll try and track someone down with a scanner I guess.

My lift pump sounded like it always did but the new one was very quiet. The old one wasnt working and I ended up having a shop push fuel through the VP44 to get the system reprimed. They said it was the worst reprime they had ever encountered. Good lck
