Gang;

I walked by the sunglasses case at my local Sam's Club tonight. I noticed they carry DIESEL brand sunglasses.

Anyone have any info on these sunglasses? I would love to get a pair, but if I spend $35. 00 for quality I can get next door a Wal-Mart for under $10. 00 it doesn't make the great name worth the extra dollars.

PS: I know this isn't a truck accessories, but if you gotta have you gotta have it?

I am suprised Sams Club is selling the real "Diesel" brand sunglasses?. I have a pair i got as a gift from a customer, i did not like the way they looked so i took them back to the store to exchange them and they had some that were in the $150. 00 range. Maybe its a lower end line?

I once met Hobie Alter, of Hobie Cat and surfboard fame, they also sell Hobie sunglasses. Their sunglasses retail for around $75, he told me he has them made for him for $1. 25 a pair in Tawian as he gave me 6 pairs. Price does not a good sunglass make.

Bill;

I see you moved to the Bitterroot valley. What parts? I remember you said apple farming was not profitable and you had halted the tree farming (so to speak) ways. I know a first gen CTD Dodge owner in the Bitterroot valley. He also has a very fine (make that extremely fine) collection of old JD tractors. It includes a lowly model R, which I consider the best diesel tractor of its time. It's also his only tractor with a starter... .....

All;

And I worry about spending $35. 00 on a pair of sunglasses? A name brand isn't going to sell me if the performance isn't there. I've never heard of DIESEL sunglasses before seeing them at Sam's. Am I missing the fashionable name parade, again?

John, I'm in Corvallis, a few miles north-east of Hamilton. Now in the reseach end of agriculture, no more losing money for me.

Side note from speaking with Hobie, he said they tried selling their sunglasses cheaper, he isn't into windfall profits, but sold more when they raised the price. Goes right along with what Rob said.

Diesel is an Italian company. They have been around for years apparently. I am not into high end fashions but since this thread came up i asked a friends mother who works in a department store and she said that they were mostly available in Italy for awhile but have been getting bigger here and some of there lower end models are the ones you can find in Sams Club and other "Value" stores. Rest assured, if you still want to pay out the Rear foro sunglasses, go to a Nordstoms or other Yuppie department store and they will show you lots of Diesel versions in the $100. 00 and up range. I saw a set or "Perso's" (spelling?) like Arnold wore in T2 in a store and they were $225. 00!.

I am sure alot of the sunglasses from companies like Oakley, Gargoyle, Ray ban, Wiley-X, etc cost there companies almost nothing to manufacture. But good sunglasses are are good sunglasses. I dont trust my vison to cheap drug store sunglasses while shooting or doing "Industrial activities" such as at work when i stick my head out the window at 60mph. I wear Wiley-X's that i was issued by the Navy or Gargoyles. These are ANSI approved safety glasses, and they look good too. I dont mind paying 70 bucks for them if in return i get nice, distortion free lenses that will save my vision from flying objects. However, i can t see paying $140. 00 for Oakleys strictly for the cool colors and the Oakley name. Or DIESELS for that matter which are NOT safety glasses. Geez, sorry for the long post, WAYYY to much caffiene today.

Serengeti Drivers.....

About $150. 00 a Pair... ... . BUT

Simply the BEST Sunglasses Money Can Buy!

Lenses Are made by Corning and a while back I read that the lenses thenselves recieved an award as "One Of The Top 5 Highest Quality Products Made In America".

This put them in the same ranking (that year) as the Freedom Arms 454 Casull Revolver made by Freedom Arms, Freedom Wyoming.

I have owned 3 pair in the past 15-18 Years.....

I'd still be on pair #2 if I could remember WHERE I PUT THE DARN THINGS!!!!!!

Seriously..... 150. 00 may sound like a bit much... but just how much is your sight worth to you... . ????

The El'Cheapo's were doing my eyes in fast!!!!!!.....

Plus when you lay down serious money for a pair of sunglasses you tend to take care of them better!

If you could get a pair of prescription glasses for 150. 00... you'd think that was a bargain... .
