Went to the diesel drags in Redding Ca. Sat the 17th, had a good time, had some audi's running , first time I even knew they made a diesel, on the way home I learned that audi won the 24 hour Le Mans beating the gassers. check out the Green Car Concern web and read about the win. they not only ran fast they got better milage and made fewer pit stops, from what I gather they might change the rules to make the gassers more competitive, What?

is this some kind of a conspericey by big oil. stormy

Howdy,

Any idea what model Audi's were running at the drag strip? The only Audi model I can think of that has been available for sale in the US with diesel power is the old 5000 series from the mid-80's...

They ran a 5-cylinder IDI version of VW's 1. 6L 4-banger...

Thanks,

Matt

audi win

Sorry but I did not look under the hoods of the Audi in Redding, but they looked new at least in bodystyle, The Audi win at Le Mans was 12 cylinder

all aluminium 5. 5 liter putting out 650 h p and 1,100Nm of torque. this could be the hints of things to come, that is using all aluminum, something that up to now has not been tried. stormy

I might be wrong but I think that the only thing the Audi R10's were allowed to have over the gassers at Lemans was variable geometry turbos. They

also beat the track record at Sebring by two seconds earlier this year.
