I am not a mechanic

I see. I figured there was enough room under there for the motor. So the bodylift is what is making you come up short on the fan drive height?

Yep. I raised the hood / radiator / CAC / to match. I just got a air clutch fan for an ISL last week and will do a custom mount to center it.

I just may need a belt about 10 feet long, and put a backside idler on it.

Here is the transmission, back from the rebuild shop. Got a great deal, set up for the #2 bell, and with a 2" input shaft. Too bad these won't fit in the Dodges. Unbreakable. It is a Eaton 9 speed, 1250 input torque rated.

Ya choped off the shifter knob in the picture :) I know ya probably know this, being a Cummins man, but if you use the twin disk spicer, pull type clutch, be sure and adjust the clutch brake first before you adjust the clutch itself. I wish I had one of those suckers in'a RTO 610 size :{ they will fit easy if the #2 bellhousing would fit. I tried to put one in my Cummins powered Ford, but it would have required a body lift. I wish now I would have went ahead and lifted it.

I picked up the clutch today, a ceramic button dual disk, spicer pull type, 2" by 14".

Only $250 outright. I have always said that it is cheaper to work on full size semi's than a Dodge.

I am curious as to why the 9 spd. over, say the 10 spd. Usually the 9 spd has a deep 1st gear, kinda an off highway transmission with 8 progresive gears. The 10 spd. more of an on highway transmission uses 10 progressive gears. Just wonderin' :)

Mainly, it was cheap and they had a lot of them. Also, with the 9 speed, I can add a back half later, and make it into a 13 speed double overdrive. Doubt that I will need it.

Well, finally got back on the truck project. Been busy on the dragster.

Got the clutch, trans in and ready to cut drivelines. The nice thing is I can use the overhad hoist at Cummins and lift the big boy up in the air to work on it.

Finally. Back on the tow rig. Will post pictures tomorrow. Almost done, plumbing, wiring, clutch linkage, and more. I WAY underestimated the amount of work, and overestimated the amount of time I have.

Man thats gonna be one heck of a Tow Rig. Like you my toter project has been put on the back burner. Do you have any plans on coming to the west coast? I sure like to see the Rig and Dragster in person Oo.

The top photo shows the final wiring going in, and still needs tied up. The lower photo shows the Dynamat all throught the interior, ready for the new carpet and reinstall the new switch panels, and gauges. Like the short 9 speed air shift stick?

Coming along. Has to be done in time to go to Indy for the races in 2 weeks.

Too bad I don't live in Denver anymore or I would come over and give you a hand with the wiring. Looks like you've got it under control and I like the little switch panel.

WOW is all I have to say. Got he truck running, and does it run.

The ISL is one powerful, smooth, quiet engine. The Jake is killer. Had a few issues at first with a couple fault codes, (my fault) and cleared that all up. I got the engine to interface with the dash gauges, the factory cruise control switches, and all.

I will post some photos up later... .

OK, from the outside, it looks like a regular 2 ton. Underneath, a wolf in sheeps clothing. . 400HP at 1200 lb/ft. Jake Brake. All tied in like factory. Cruise and all... Finally.

Hey, check out the Montana CUMMINS plates!

Couple more things for the future:

1. Air clutch fan. The direct drive is a custom, had to flipover a "B" hub, and put a long belt with a extra fixed idler on the backof the belt. Works great, just noisy at high RPM, and should not need the fan all of the time. .

2. Different fan shroud, a little tighter or possibly, a ring shroud, engine mounted like the new trucks. They are nice and efficient.
