Fuel Mileage

Thank You Mr Klock, Appreciate the responce, Again if any one comes out with a timing chip or what ever that will increase the fuel Mileage will you please tell us about it... . I had a 95 12 V automatic got 18-22 mpg. I have a 99 automatic 24 v. and the mileage is around 15 to 17 and it seems like the later models are dropping off a bit... Bill Oo. Oo. Oo.

Keith,

With your post about possibly doing away totally with the HX-40, I take it this new-fandangled turbo will be available in the future for 2nd gen, 24 valve pickups?

Would this turbo be recommended over an HX-40 for someone like me running a Comp, DD3's, DTT transmission?

Thanks, Josh

so when will we be able to see pictures of this new wonder turbo? waiting to see it is no fun:(:( [kinda like a kid waiting to open presents on christmas day:D:D;)]

The Stage 3's with the airbox and turbo make right at 400hp on our HO truck. It runs sweet like that, and can tow 15k# with no EGT issues. You need a boost module with the injectors though. For right around 400hp, maybe a set of Stage 1's with the TTPM would be the way to go. That setup should give around 400-410rwhp.

Remember Kieth have a 5th wheel hitch in the truck for MM we are taking my trailer for a ride RIGHT. :D

KLock,

thanks for the good info. your time and insight are appreciated. keep the good insider info coming. i am looking at your products more just b/c of your willingness to answer the questions that everyone on this board wants to see answered.

i have a turbo, injectors and timing/fueling box in my future and i guess as you say i will need a pusher also. i know i am getting my injectors from you guys the verdict is still out on turbo and box but your customer service is appreciated. your new turbo is peaking my interest! when you have more info post it.

last but not least is sounds like you are giving a honest opinion on all products. for that i will give two thumbs up!

It will eventually replace the HX-40 in our lineup from what R&D is telling me. We will make it work on the 2nd gen trucks as well as the 2003 trucks.

Shortly. We have some modifications to make to them, then I will take the pics. You are welcome to come see the one on Lawrences truck at our shop any time though.

65hp/150+ft-lbs at the wheels on the highest setting (#4).

Lawrences' truck has a hitch in it, but I don't think he's gonna be around the week prior... other engagements. We will have time to put a set of injectors in your truck though, if you're ready to ante up! :D

Good or bad, that's the only way I do it.

Keith, do you have any pictures of the new air box kit installed? The reason I ask is that some other kits I have seen installed look like they don't optimize the position of the filter.

Also, this is just the engineer side of me, but why powder coat it black (or dark)? One of the reasons for an airbox is to get cool air. The dark surface has a high emissivity value. That means it will easily absorb radiant heat from the engine and then transmit that to the incoming air (that's why stove, pots, etc. are black).

Is this a case of marketing overriding engineering?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not ragging on ya. At the moment your airbox is on the top of my list (partially because you provide good information to this site). I just wish I could get it powder coated silver. Is that an option?

Well, the color was mainly picked for marking reasons. It's easy to dirty up light colors, and with the rough krinkle finish, hard to clean.

I suppose if we had a few people that all wanted the same color, we could make a short run (say 5-10 people).

Now that's what I call customer service!

Anyone else ready to order a silver one?? Come on... if yer gonna pony up the greenbacks why not squeeze every ounce of performance out 'em. Think about those dyno runs boys, trucks sitting still, only the fan to keep things cool... Hmmmm.

Aluminum and stainless were considered. Aluminum would be about double the cost. Stainless would be around 50% more, but all the welding will discolor the stainless right around the weld points and look ugly.

not if yer welder knows what hes doing with stainless

oh yah

aluminum would be bad because it disipates heat/cold fast

therefore transferring the heat around it to the inside air

IMHO worse than a black box

stainless would be the best

perhaps polished:D
