I hear ya'. I've driven over 2500 miles (two different trips) from where I live to deal directly with DD. First, I got the stage 2's, boost module, and guages, then I got the 4" exhaust on my second trip.

Real happy with the products, but they screwed me on my discount also. I had been calling for several weeks trying to arrange an appointment (hard to schedule with my job and distance), and mentioned each time I was going to be returning my boost module (which I took off only a week after getting it, because I got the PE) for a credit towards my exhaust.

Well, I ended up only getting 2/3 return credit on the boost module, even though I was told "sure, no problem" each time I called (which was subtracted from my exhaust BEFORE the TDR discount was applied). They said they had to "eat" the cost of the boost module, which in turn really came out to me paying $142 for it as a return. Not to mention my travel time.

I even wrote them a letter explaining this when I sent in my original injectors for the $75 return. No response.

I did have to ask for my injectors back the first time, so I'd guess they keep all who don't ask for them and hone them and resell them as the stealth injectors. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

This isn't a bash on DD. I really like the boys there and their products. I'll probably use them again someday. But, I'd just like to see a little better customer service for as much of an effort as I made to use them exclusively.

I would have sent them back if I had the slightest doubt the sealing washers or injectors were not new. I hate crap like that.

You paid for NEW, you need to recieve NEW. If it does not look NEW, its USED. You did not purchase USED.

Nothing worse than opening your UPS package and being dissatisfied with whats in it.

Part of me doesn't even want to find out... if the injectors aren't new, I will literally drive there and take it out on someone's a**. The chewed up washers are starting to bother me though. I'm going to have to pull a oil sample, send it off, and see if that shows anything. Thanks for everyone's input both on the website and via e-mail... great bunch of people on the TDR.

No 2nd or 3rd thought required.
I try to stick to 2 rules:
1) Get it in writing FIRST. (An e-mail is writing. )
2) If they don't answer questions with factual stuff that makes sense and/or don't return e-mails or phone calls, walk away. Go buy from somebody else.

I find it very unlikely the injectors were used. How many RVs are getting DD injectors and trading in their old ones? (close to zero). They are selling new RV injectors at a good price and if a washer is chewed up, it must have came that way or was damaged in shipping. Used washers look very distinctive, flattened and carboned at the edges. That is not what you described. I have seen how much stuff DD throws away, even new Bosch nozzles that don't meet their specs. They don't EVER recycle or reuse out-of-spec stuff, so why would they have anything to do with selling used injectors? I suppose a mistake could happen, but that is what it would be.

Some other companies that extrude hone injectors took in cores for a while before they started doing that, and it is no great stretch of the imagination to figure out they are now honing the used stuff they took in. That is not the case with DD. At times, DD uses old holders only, so they can give the stock part numbers where desired by the customer. All other stuff is new and quality checked before and after. I know because I have seen this, on in-process injectors I had no interest in and acted like I wasn't paying any attention, while doing other stuff there.

I cannot speak to the other, specific customer service stuff. I have heard a number of discussions with customers at DD, and found DD to be very fair, imho. I don't know the "other side" of the story in the particular cases in this thread, because I was not there.

This TDR discount situation was publicized only on this forum, and naturally DD did not quiz folks "begging" them to seek it. You have to know about it and ask for it. I don't know if it is still in effect, but they do have specials on their website most months. I did overhear one customer's call while I was there for some dyno work, and Lawrence made a very fair offer to him, even though he had not asked for the discount when ordering.

We TDR members are fortunate to have a number of vendors who offer valuable research and development, and quality products. From time to time, someone complains, and this is inevitable. Usually a fair settlement can be reached but this forum is not the place where it will happen. I remember another case where a member complained about lack of warranty consideration and it took several months for the "rest of the story" to come out about major power enhancements and severe, heavy towing involved in the failure.

I hope this helps. I'm not trying to start an argument or flame war, just to bring some additional logic and information to the thread.

Hi Joe! #ad

Well done.
One thing I forgot to add to mine:

2)
a) Always investigate the sources yourself.

Some people get cranked up for little things when in fact they are mostly angry with themselves. (Note: I'm not talking about anybody here, people I know who drive gassers) (PIKWDG) #ad
Sometimes a place might get a bad rap from an unhappy customer. Sometimes it is justified, sometimes the customer is just unhappy!

Kinda PO'd... When I got my injectors from Diesel Dynamics the copper washers were really messed up (made me wonder if they sent me NEW injectors or just cleaned old ones). I debated sending them back but I already had my old injectors out. Then I realized I hadn't asked for my TDR discount and called them about that... they said tough, you should have asked for it from the beginning. Not happy right now.

Joe has infused some rational thought, but I still think this forum is a good place to vent and for the vendors to read about our frustration—which may ultimately reduce their revenue. I have been so frustrated lately with vendors and salespeople that I just had to support Vaman and Walker. Their perspective is valuable. If I ever deal with DD, I will definitely mention the TDR discount immediately. Without this thread, I may have forgotten to do that.

I did need to vent a little and I should have asked for the discount up front, but at the same time, how long does it take to LOOK at injectors before you send them out? About 10 seconds per injector so I really don't want to hear about how good their quality control is. I guess I'm still venting...

Okay... the rest of the story. I received an e-mail from Mark at DD. Issue one (might be my error), I joined the TDR and ordered my injectors about the same time so I may not have been entitled to the discount but, at the same time, it was definitely a "you bought them already so that's it" attitude before this was known. My apologies though if I asked for something I wasn't entitled to. As far as the injectors, Mark says they don't touch them and I've got to give him the benefit of the doubt. I would have liked to have had them show up with some kind of factory packing though (each was in a little plastic bag with no box or Bosch anything). The condition of the washers and the lack of anything Bosch had me wondering about their "newness". Anyhow, I wanted to post this and give them their due. As far as my engine, I'll have an oil sample drawn and if anything is abnormal, I'll assume Bosch screwed up, order new washers, and replace them.

That Southern temper is going to get you a lot of trouble. I know, got one too.
As for the plastic bags, I bought 300's from BillK and got them in plastic bags also. But from the bag to the truck, oh my. And I thought the only thing you put in those bags was sandwichs. If I moved like the truck from what's in the bag, I wouldn't be act like I'm 57.

Good luck and vent on.

Sometimes Bosch sends injectors in very large boxes, which doesn't make sense. It is common, therefore, to discard these oversized boxes so the overall package is a more reasonable size. Often Bosch doesn't box them at all before shipping them to vendors. Since Vaman bought ordinary 275 RV injectors, not DD's special Stage 1,2,3, or Super Mentals, DD does not lavish any extra care on them and as Mark of DD said to him, they don't touch them, just put them in a box and ship them. That too is common among the vendors of these Bosch parts. Those opper washers are available easily, and often free.

Well, Joe, in this case, Mark said that he opened a few boxes and looked at a few injectors so you do the math... apparently these were originally in boxes. He also said they only stock a few sets of stock injectors. You were the one who talked about what great care they take and how they inspect everything. As far as not receiving any "lavish" care to my injectors because they were just stock... whatever. They took them out of boxes and if they took even 5 seconds to look at them, it would have been caught. Bottom line is, maybe I jumped the gun a little but the "you bought 'em already so that's it" attitude was still there AND, assuming these are new injectors, they should have been looked at once at the factory and a second time before shipping them to me. Mark just e-mailed me again and as far as I'm concerned it's a non-issue. Mark seems to be very much a customer service type of guy and I would consider using them again in the future.
