I would have to admit I do not have a good baseline on either of those items. My CTS2 I have one of the egts up on it iirc the farthest upstream one. I could change that easy enough. I have never been able to tell when my truck is in regen. I drive about 35k mile a year and at least 70% of that is highway miles. Though one night last winter we had a blizzard here and I got caught out on the road it literally took hours to go a few miles, my cts2 dpf monitor told me it was on but once traffic would get moving a bit as in 5+mph it would shut off turned on 3 times that night. It took me about 4 hours to get 12 miles it was pretty sad. do have solid mpg and def usage though.
I had never and still are not in general a snake oil user or perhaps better to say very skeptical of any claims on some magic juice. On my 01 I went through through several lift pumps and vp44s. However once I changed my lift pump to a RASP (then later when I put in a cam I converted to a 12 valve lift pump since I now had a cam lobe to drive it) and started using Amalgamated Fuel additive I never lost another one of either. Obviously the lift pumps shouldn't have been an issue after that. The Amalgamated TDR blend additive definitely made my truck sound different, it idled smoother, I got right about 1/2mpg better in the summer time and about 1mpg better in the winter time. Never had fuel gell up even at -29 f several times and no plug in. Never had any injector problems etc though as you know quite different than the ones today. Was it the additive that kept the vp going for 200k and still going to this day, or the injectors as well that at this point have almost 400k on them dont know for sure wasn't able to run an identical rig right next to it for a control unit. However it made me think.
Now on my 17 I haven't run anything in it and now she has 105k on her (except a few bottles of PS in the winter time if I know I am going to be in a really cold area). I find myself in the sw part of the state a lot in the winter and it has no problem being -20 or more in Alamosa, Gunnison or Mancos. I had been thinking since it was winter time to start using the Amalgamated TDR-WDA additive again for the fuel gell potential here and I did like it before when I used it. Then I remembered this stuff while it doesn't do anything for fuel gel I was just reminded of it and went to check it out again and saw they now had 1/2 gallons of it and figured what the heck. I know Kevin Rutherford has a following and I also know some think of him as a salesman which he is for sure at times but I have never heard anyone call him out on something he endorses or recommends as not being a good product.
I will see what happens with my experience with it in my rather unscientific tests post it up and let the chips fall where they may. I being one of them who do not put much stock in any magic juice as many others here do not as well and some of those threads discussing them can be funny and even mean spirited. Fortunately for me my internet suit of armor and flame suit are of quite good quality.
