Just wondering? Cummins and Dodge do not recommend DFA, for our engines. Based on the article in the latest TDR it does not look like most of them do anything to increase the cetane rating of our fuel. Other than the fact that it helps in the "cold" times of the winter to keep our fuel from gelling. Why would anyone use it? I've been using Rotella DFA, it says that it helps to keep the injection system clean and disperse water. What do you guys think? Is adding DFA a waste of time and money? If you were going to use a DFA would you add the minimum every tank or would you triple dose every third tank (to keep the injection system clean)???

I have been adding Schaffers fuel treatment for the past 2 years in mine and it seems to run better. I have noticed that when I dont add it for a couple of tanks. . it does run different. What helps my truck is a good long run with the 5er in tow...

Yes I do use a treatment and it seems to work for me... .

I've tried different brands and paid close attention to how the engine runs and fuel milage. I can't see any difference so I quit wasting money on them.

I thought the point of adding a fuel additive was for improved lubrication of the lift and injection pump. For me, I consider this "cheap" insurance. I'm currently using Lucas. I can't tell any

performance difference.

my 2 pesos...

I have used an additive (cetane/lube) since I've owned my 97.

runs smoother (tech. term :D )

dont notice any HP/TQ diff

just my . 02$ :)

Bob, do you use the Diesel Kleen (silver jug) or the white containered stuff. I switched from the PS in the white jug to the PS Diesel Kleen but am not sure of the difference. (Diesel Kleen does mentioned Cummins approved). Also where do you buy it. I have been getting it from Ernie's in Kent. :)

I have worked in fuel injection repair and calibration since '71. Now that things are changing in fuel with the removal of sulfur, one should use a lubricant and deposit modifier to help keep injectors clean. It used to be that the injector orifices were . 006-. 010 in diameter. Not anymore! Some are . 004 or smaller and nozzle tips are smaller. Deposits can cause leaking/dripping injectors which results in wasted fuel out the exhaust whether you see smoke or not. For the results of an independent test, follow this link: Stanadyne Performance Formula Proven Protection I have used this for years in every tank of fuel in several vehicles with over 500,000 total miles on them with no fuel injection failures! I have an '02 with the VP44 pump. I would not fill up without adding it to my tank!

Powerservice.....

Chipstein... .

www.powerservice.com

tells the difference (Kleen doesn't have anti-gelling properties)

I've just started using the Kleen, and like it. Performs the same as the other brands I've tried, and the cost is lower. Harder to find... . I either order it from Napa or did just find a jug at a truck stop.

Chip, I've been buying the white jug of PS and I get it at Walmart

9. 96 jug

Are you going to the Mopar Drags on June 8th @ SIR/PR ?

Thanks for the reply, sounds like you have a strong background for this type of question. I tried to open the sight you posted but I can't open it. Can you copy it on to this thread?
