I have been doing some research and testing of fuel additives in my 03' HO for about six months now... . I'm noticing about a 1 to 1. 5 MPG increase when using Lucas or Diesel Power Service products. I am a fuel economy freak! I log every fill-up, and hand caluculate every time too. I always fill up at one of my regular three gas stations, and I always round up an extra gallon after the pump kicks off. I realize that there are variations and other real world variables that limit the possability of being %100 acuarate. However, my math is always very close on every fill-up.

Now with that out of the way. With the massive increase in diesel cost, I have become even more interested in getting the best millage I can... . Hence the personal testing. However, I have a few questions.

1. ) What fuel additive/s have you used, still use and like?

2. ) How often do you use these products?

3. ) Do I / we risk damaging our engines by using these products?

Any information, or personal experiences are welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks!

To be more accurate, don't round off the number. Leave it the way it is on the pump or ticket.

1. Lucas or Howes. Use the Howes mostly in the winter. Don't have the winter version of Lucas on the shelf around here, and the regular stuff is a glob of goo in the winter. Pours like 20-50 engine oil when really cold.

See a slight mileage gain with thes 2. Never saw a difference with the PS.

2. Use it when I remember. lol Generally a double shot of the Lucas or a single shot of Howes.

3. No. Just don't accidentally use the PS 911 or similar products, unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. They are mostly alcohol, and very little, if any, lubrication. With the closer tolerances of the fuel injection equipment the newer engines, it is even more important.

I run Amsoil Cetane Boost. I see about a 1-1. 5 mpg increase usually, depending on the quality of the fuel.

here is the info if you are intersted.

Don't forget about checking into DieselPower additives. They are the main sponsor for the DHRA, and you can try a bottle for free. Go to the DHRA website and find the rebate coupon you can print out and send in.
