Personnaly, I would keep my eye on that station. If they sell a lot, the tanker will be seen topping the tanks. Maybe talk to driver. If they have low turn over, could get water/fungi/etc probs. Check for filter on pump & cetane # (could be lower than most). Is it a mixed 1 & 2 or is it straight 2?

Just my take on it... usually use the big pumps at the J or others (found most drivers won't complain if you getin & out then go sign for the fuel. They know you wont be as long as the other big rig in the fuel lane.

JMTCW (just my two cents worth)

Ben is right, price isn't the determining factor. It could very well be that no-name is the exact same fuel as Amoco. Keep your eye on both stations and see who gets the most business. You could even take a sample from both in a glass jar and compare for impurities and water.

Kute,
Buying diesel fuel is like buying a pig in a poke-you never know what you are putting in your tank.

A few years back they put a new Town Pump in at Belgrade MT. Exon, so I bought all my fuel there untill all of the sudden I started going through fuel filters like they were going out of style.

Other threads on here have a problem with texaco. I always got along good with texaco, but I can't get any consistancy out of Conoco.

Every one touts Flying J and it works for me too, but the refinery is in Utah and I doubt they haul it to all their stores back east.

I looked at most of their webb sites and most of them don't post the fuel specs. out here in the west cenex does and I think their fuel is delivered from their own refineries, so I use it and it works for me.

I'll be coming back to PA next month and I will try to use truck stops exclusive.

Merger mania has struck, and I think BP absorbed Amoco, so they are probably playing hanky panky like the rest of them, and your no name station might turn out to be a little gem.

I think Flying J might contract for fuel from other refineries made up to Flying J specs. I think Conoco stations might get fuel from who ever, when ever, what ever. And on and on

Saw a Flying J tanker coming out of local Fina refinery this week. Worked in a gas station when I was a somewhat younger, the one I worked at, the local Conoco and the Diamond X all got gas from the same tanker.

Im a new member so this is my first reply. I deliver diesel fuel up here in the northeast so let me give you a little hint. Buy your diesel fuel from the dealers who move alot of it. Speaking from the oil end of it. Remember that #1 diesel has a slight green color to it. #2 diesel is dyed red at least up here in NEW YORK. For tax reasons. The red does have more sulfur in it and will run a little better in your truck but it is against the law. There is alot more I could get into but I will stop there.

Have used Texaco and Mobil since i got my 01'. I try to frequent gas stations that sell the most Diesel Rather then a station where is sits in the tank for a month.

I just have a simple question about fuel. There is a no name station two miles from the Amoco station. Amoco diesel is $1. 70 and the no name is $1. 55. I can save about $4. 50 every time I fill up but if the fuel is not quality it isn't worth it. I don't want to harm my injectors or anything else just to save afew bucks. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks
