How does diesel leak into the crankcase? Does the diesel leak in at the head and/or into the cylinder and down past the rings?

Is the leak something that will build over time, or if a leak develops the diesel will rapidly leak into the crankcase.

It can come from the injector and washes down the cylinder walls or from the high pressure lines and directly into the oil pan through the drains.

The top of the injectors are actually exsposed to oil under the valve cover. They sit between the valves and are sealed at the top by an o-ring. Should they begin to leak up there they're leaking right into the oil that lubes the head, no need to go through the combustion chamber.

I've also heard of one instance where a CP3 failed and filled the crankcase with fuel but that is a very rare case.
