Glow Plugs = why do the others use them???

Winching Technique Often missed

I have looked and looked and even called the IRS (what a waste of time was what with going through all their menus) for information about the supposed income tax rebate on the purchase of a new Diesel vehicle. This is evidently part of the energy conservation act.

My local dealer says that there is one, however as confusing as most IRS programs are they are recommending that their purchasers get the information from their accountant or the IRS. Does anybody have the correct information or the IRS publication number etc?

Thanks in advance for your information.

I don't think a diesel qualifies as an alternate fuel source for tax credits. I'm pretty sure it's intended for more enviromentally friendly fuels like propane and hybred.

I had the information then threw it away. None of the diesel vehicles will be able to qualify until 07 when the cleaner diesel fuel comes into law. There are 2 categories for weight. The first is 0-6000 GVW. The second is 6000-8500 GVW. Our trucks don't qualify due to our GVW. I'll try to find the info tomorrow at work.

The only tax break I know of for our trucks is the small business tax credit for trucks over 6,000 lbs. Mine was a $25,000 tax credit the year I bought my truck. ;)

This is the exact page from the DieselForum that has the information about the Diesel tax rebate.

This is essentially what I remember reading in Trailer Life magazine.

The article is dated July 29, 2005

It says that; “a new national energy plan expected to be signed into law soon by President George W. Bush” and since it seams that nobody knows anything about it means that Bush either didn’t sign it into law or that it was modified not to include “newer, cleaner-burning diesel cars, trucks and SUVs”

Just wondering why I can’t find anything about on the IRS site etc.

After checking on it myself, my tax return form (1040), has an area for electric and/or hybrid rebate. Gas and diesel engine equiped vehicles are excluded and the electric/hybrid vehicles have to meet certain criteria.
