Diesel Jeep XJ Cherokee tech?

I have found a Diesel Cherokee very very cheap... .



I was thinking of grabing it up for the motor... to put in my CJ...



I found out that it could be one of two, does anyone have any info or advice on either of these? easy or hard to find parts for? etc... anything you may know about these two...



Renault 2. 1L 4cyl. Turbo Diesel

or the

Italian VM 2. 5L Turbo Diesel

I've been looking for one of those! If you don't get it let me know, I'm not that far from you either.



Back to the topic... ... I've never heard anything good about the 2. 1L or 2. 5L. I was looking for one to put a 4BT into. It would be alot easier to find a diesel XJ for a 4BT than convert one over to a diesel.

the XJ runs, it's missing some body parts, doors, hood, and lift gate... a buddy wants the axles (there 4. 10 gears with the diesel) and transmission and t-case for spares... he doesn't want the motor thou... the whole thing is $300... so it'd be $150 for the motor and everything that goes with it...

back when i was 16 i had a jeep and always wanted that diesel in it, would have give you twice that for it just because it was neat. but i would definitly go with a 4bt instead.

I belong to XTC, you might know Rob Steffey with the Comp buggy? Anyway, what year is the XJ and if the motor and the rest of the cherokee is up for grabs for $150, I'd be really interested! I need stuff like guage cluster, fuel tank, lines, and everything related to the diesel swap into a good body. I have no use for the rears, transmission, and t-case... ... ... too light duty for a 4BT

Yea we know Rob and most of the other guy from XTC... Flimmy was just out with us at our trials...
