Diesel motorcycle

Has anyone heard of a diesel powered motorcycle? I figure since a viper engines been done that a diesel would be possible.

Yes I have. Someone posted a link on here not too long ago about them.

It was a Kawasaki KLR based bike, built for the military.

Royal Enfield used to make them - and they're used all over the place in India. They even have a nickname "Putt-puttee".

I've been thinking about another KLR 650 anyway, now that they've got something else besides the green. Theire patriotic version is just awesome. 100 mpg plus... ..... ya gotta luv it.

I'd like to know what the price on that is going to be, I might even get rid of the xr650 for one of those.

The price estimate I saw from one of the press releases on their site said pricing would be bwteen 20-30% higher than similar gas bike.

There was an article in Diesel Progress last year. Fellow built one with a Kubota 3 cylinder diesel that ran a hydraulic pump. The pump ran a hydraulic motor attached to the rear wheel. No chain, no belt... ... . hoses :-laf
