Detroit Diesel 3-71 Replacement

What turbo for a 684 IH tractor?

How do you bomb it???

NOT the kind of peak firing pressures that I want two feet from MY frank-and-beans!!! No Way.

Met a guy last year on the trails that owned a polaris diesel 4x4 four wheeler. Loved it, sounded just like a real diesel... . loud and obnoxious.

WOW that video said the bike could do 170 MPG. I think the page said 120 MPG. I have a KLR 250 and i can get about 65 MPG in town but once I put it on the highway for 500 miles and I dropped to 45 Hauling butt really killed mileage. The KLR 650 has a real large fuel tank also like 7 gallons or so. Man that is my dream bike 7 gallons times 170 is 1190 miles. Man you would need to change the oil every other tank. You might spend more on oil than diesel ! To add insult to injury you could run red diesel and noone would check you. CRAZY You could go 500 miles for $3 of fuel.

I either read it here, another web site, or in a magazine, but there is a guy here in the states that put an in line 4 diesel in a bike. I can't for the life of me remember anything more about it.

Id like to have all 3 a Dodge turbo diesel, a VW TDI, and for the ultimate mileagea KLR diesel awesome package. I would buy a diesel Motorcycle in a heartbeat.

Of course round that off wiyh a Diesel Lawn/garden tractor , Diesel John Deere Gator , And Diesel R/C Truck (I forget who makes it) but yes ..... It's a . 58 Diesel if I am not mistaken.

I'm with you there. I am planning to convert my wifes Trooper to a 4BT diesel after I get thru converting my Motorhome over to the Cummins. Now all I need is the Kawasaki 650 to put on the rear bumper and I'd be set. Oh. lets not forget I have found a 3 cyl diahatsu diesel for the Onan Generator. I'd commute on the Kawa if given the chance. I read were it has the power of a 350 CC bike but requires less shifting in low as it pulls like a tractor. Said to be very good bike for beginners.

there was a guy on the TST mail list back around 98,99 that had built one, last I heard (again, 98 or 99) he was heading to Daytona that spring. Never heard about it again.

I got the 02 Cummins, a 98 TDi (my daily driver) and my Husky TE-610 has so much low end it might as well be a diesel :)

I did a search on the net and haven't found a diesel motor small enough and practicle enough to use in a motorcycle here in the U. S. . Unless I could get my hands on one of the Kawasaki Mule engines. But, they may be monsters. I have two Yamaha 650's motorcycles in need of motors. THe CV trannys seem to be the answer as they keep thediesel motors in their working power bands. Briggs and Stratton are supposed to have a single cylinder diesel motor but I can't find it on their WEB site. I had a long conversation with a B&S engineer on a plane about 5 years back who was working on the project.

Just curious - did you check out the Yanmar product line?
