Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Diesel power article

I picked up a copy of Diesel Power magazine this weekend and found an article on 96 HP for free on a 95 Cummins and they removed the fuel plate and had a big HP & torque increase. I'm a little confused i thought removing the plate was not a good idea, i do see they did get some high EGT readings

but is this a good thing to do?I just would like to hear some of your input on it.

I would not pull the plate. There are some big hp guys here that run plates; there must be a reason why.

The reason is that the plate prevents the fuel rack from travelling fully to the 'power' end and jamming there. A 0 (zero) plate is probably the proper way around this.
