Oo. I am so ready to buy their s400 twins turbos, with my Choice of S475, S480 bottom,or ht3b turbo, how do they stack up against the rest ? being a first time turbo purchase for myself, I have no real clue. . searches found me nothing for this diesel power source,,any feedback would be greatly appreciated , Oo.

i certainly am interested in the feedback on these kits,,the price is also interesting, leading me to believe to ask ? has anyone out there purchased and happy with em?

I understand from lookin at the pictures not installed in a vehicle the air filter looks clearance close to the battery ,, wonderin does it call for a relocation of the battery

Never heard of them. Everybody and their neighbor has put out a twin kit.

You do have a lot of other things to consider here.

*Transmission - Auto or manual. If stock, on either you are going to need to do an upgrade. Gods help you if you are an auto.

*Injectors - You are going to need a lot more fuel to drive the twins than stock or stage 1s can deliver.

*Performance box - Don't really need it, but it will help.

*Studs - Going to need to upgrade from the OEM head bolts. If you are going all out, then head gasket will need to be taken into consideration as well.

More importantly, you need to choose what you are going to do with the truck. Race or tow. If racing, you will want high end spooling (lots of low end lag in spooling up). If towing, you will want the turbos to start spooling ASAP.

Took me 13 hours to do my twin kit, studs, injectors, and exhaust, plus another 4 hours of re-torque the studs and valve adjust after (4 separate times). I already had the clutch to handle the power.

Personally I am not that impressed with their (DPS) piping. Really cluttered up the top side.

thanks alot sticks. some of the upgrades i do have , dont know for sure if the south bend clutch is up to snuff ,, 100 hp edge nozzles,4" exhaust , gauges, edge programmer, killer dowel pin kit. I do need the studs, towing 10000lbs towing 7 -8 times a year, i would have to settle for one or the other, there probably is no in between choice , definitley I have no experience or knowledge with turbos out there , being on the other side of the world right now in the desert and internet is making me real eager for some upgrades to the truck when i or if I ever make it back to the states. LOL, I TOW roughly 7-10 times a year 100 miles each trip. dont know if that is what ya class as towin, the rest of the year the truck mostly sits... thanks alot ,doin what research I can now , while I have the time. The other turbo kits out there seem to be a little more pricey but , I maybe should be asking what is the right kit to purchase instead???? thanks again

I have one of their S300 turbos, the 62/65/12 which I think is basically an unmodified S300. Spools good but doesn't cool very well, it was quite a step backwards compared to the 2003 vintage DD Jammer turbo I had which spooled almost as well and took a lot more fuel to get past 1200F on the pyro.

dogeram1998. 5,

Your truck, you gotta drive it.

Were it me, I'd go with a company that has a bit more of a reputation, but a twin kit is a twin kit. So long as the quality of the turbos you are installing is good, the rest is just plumbing aesthetics.

With your current performance mods, I'd go with either a stock turbo over an S400, or maybe one step larger on both (depending on the altitude where you live).

With my mods (see signature) I have yet to break the 1300* mark or get more than 45psi boost. Have not had time to dyno yet to see where I am at. Gotta find a place that will let me do at least 25 runs (each setting on the Edge - gonna be an all day event).

Seat of the pants feel, the truck runs best with the Edge Comp on 1x1 and actually runs cooler than with the Edge off. Have not towed anything yet, and that is the direction I chose to go when I made my choice.

I have the BD Towing twins. With the Smarty and Mach 4's and towing at 23k GCW, I rarely need over 30#'s boost. The pyro has never been above 1100* and that is even when delibrately trying to lug it. The top turbo is very small and spools instantaneously and when the bottom kicks in, air volume and cooling are no longer a concern. I used to have to tow watching the pyro and now it seems my water temp gauge is the critical instrument of measure:-laf

Very pricy at nearly $4k but you won't be disappointed... ..... you get what you pay for. When you consider installing a lackluster kit and not being happy with it and its performance and then needing to buy another kit to be satisfied, the benefits of doing it right the 1st time become apparent. Saving you bick bucks in the long run! My BD kit is 3 yrs old and performs as well now as it ever has... ... ... . and also comes highly recommended by prominent members here on TDR, including Joe Donnelly.

If I understand correctly from your signature those injectors are the same hp level as mine ? Therefore I should have a plenty cooling , or air at least speculating I will with the next step up charger . dont know for sure about coolin for towing , but I can ask any rep before the final purchase so great !!! I will go ahead and get the studs anyway . looks like you are about borderline for aftermarket studs however you installed them anyway ,,so will I, just have to source them out also. . later to step up in injector size is an easy task enough for LATER after I see where the truck is performin , I got the fever LOL

Do you use the Water/Meth inject for a temperature cooler in your statement "I have yet to break the 1300* mark or get more than 45psi boost"?

mach 4's are 150hp and run cooler than my old jammers I had before. when I grow tired of my current turbo I will look at Rip's twins at Source Automotive or will do the bd twin kit.

twins

I second the bd twins had mine for a few years now they work great and I love them.

I think you will need to but you should strongly consider o-ringing your head to help hold the extra pressure in. I have already blown a head gasket.

I to have not seen over 1200 egt but when I turn up the edge I can easily bury my boost gauge at 60 psi.

Joe Donnelly is very nice to talk to he gave me a good hour or more of his time when I was looking for twins to tell me what he's done and tried.

Nothing blows like a set of twins!!! :-laf

I appreciate it all, sounds good with the twins,, Joe Donnely I looked him up on the members list to talk ,,couldnt find??? The more I look at the other kit I do like the hard piping Get what ya pay for . . ? what size are BD twins top and bottom? gonna find out what I need? Studs for sure , truck sits so much got the down time for the head o-ringin , who did you use ?

I used Courson Racing Engines. Don't remember turbo sizes if you look on BD site it should tell you. I believe they called mine the towing twins. They make racing twins but I don't they fit on our trucks (2002 and up?).

Hi Jason , have you ever dynoed your truck in your profile. . I have changed my mind with diesel power source , there is company "diesel auto power' I think? , Jkidd is the agent I talked to so far he has changed my mind to a definite yes, super b 57/14 top charger, s475 bottom charger w/74. 5 inducer a/r 1. 32 ,studs, boots, 200hp injectors hew!!! I think I am done ? get the kit and wait another 3 months to get back home and get busy. quite a bit cheaper than the high luster BD , I would imagine the approval from the forum may not validate my thinkin but If you got time go ahead and post some dissapproval ,, i appreciate all the input good or bad so far I have moved up a notch since my first choice in the posts.
