Well, Mack and I did it...'06 MC 2500

Cummins powered boat set to race around the world on biodiesel!

Matt, I just finished reading my copy too and thought those bikes were cool as hell. Im definately going to buy one for my kids and hopefully by the time they all know how to ride it good I will get it figured out how to bomb it. I really enjoyed reading the best/worst buys this time. Two or 3 guys had not one good thing to say about their newer Fords and 2 or 3 guys were bragging about their mighty Cummins! More people should get a subscription to that magazine because it is awesome and tons of good ideas.

Think those folks would do a discounted "group purchase" deal if several of us got together to buy one of these?

I have been wanting another diesel ATV and there are manufacturers out there, but I have yet to see one actually being SOLD in USA. This little machine would be pretty fun. It is not hard to BOMB one of those engines. I have done it to our air-cooled Yanmar 10. 5 horse engines on our service truck air compressors and on my Kubota lawn mower and Polaris ATV. They all have a "power screw" that makes a surprising difference in power and can be "feathered" for an acceptable balance of added power and not too much smoke.

Hatz is a good engine and parts are readily available in USA.

I want one if any of yall are interested!

Just another comment on the diesel vs petrol models: There is that typical 30% diesel advantage in fuel economy for a similar output engine. When will this country EVER learn? My Polaris diesel will run around 3-4 times as long on a tank of fuel as similar gassers. I want a new diesel ATV, but NOT a utility vehicle like the Kubota RTV or Kawasaki Mule. Although those are nice machines, they are way too clunky, slow and wide for me. I want a combination of fun and workhorse like my Polaris offers. This little bike would be fun and I am interested in one, but I NEED an atv and WANT it to be a diesel!! Is ANYONE listening?

Care to share which screw you are talking about?

My 5. 5hp 'Launtop' diesel engine (bolted to my Ariens walk-behind snowblower TDR thread) is a carbon-copy of a Yanmar LA-series engine (probably the same thing on your air compressors... ).

I haven't even turned it up at all and it already smokes under a heavy load pretty nicely. (Yes, I'm almost running behind it... :-laf )

Picture...

Thanks,

Matt

I believe it is on the crankshaft side of the engine. Has a metal cover you will have to drill/pry out. There is a screw/jamb nut behind it. I turned mine OUT to increase fuel. By the looks of that picture, you are already getting more than enough fuel and certainly more than I am getting!! That is cool though! My Polaris smokes similar to that.

I'll have to take a look at that one of these days. If that doesn't work, I can always grind down the delivery valve and send the injector out to get EDM'd. :-laf

Thanks,

Matt
