Good tire & wheel deal?

I drew one over to the dark (smokey) side

Alright after reading all the posts on Gasoline, Jet and Diesel prices I thought I had better shed a little light based on what I am seeing as a oil worker at one of the major oil refineries her in So Cal.

First off, the picture is not a pretty one. As of this writing we are maxed out!!!!!!! :eek:. Our production is barely able to keep up. We are importing raw blend stocks as well as finished GJ and D from Texas, Hawaii, and Wa st. just to keep up. The prices you see today would be a welcome site one year from today, as the forecasted price for a barrel of crude is expected to hit the $75. 00 per barrel mark soon.

You gentlemen need to relax and be happy there's fuel available without waiting in long lines, as thats the next harsh reality :{. All of us as need to contact our senators to support increasing or existing refineries throughput capacities. Doing so can help expedite/streamline the permitting process for expanding and improving our refining piping and distribution infrastructure.

Keep in mind that there is crude available, albeit expensive. But all of us would agree having it available at a high price is better than no fuel and possible lines at the pump.

Alright let me have it. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :-{}

I've already written to my senators and reps. I don't expect much, but suggested opening OUR reserves to exploration and drilling and more refinery capacity. Also calling President Fox and telling him to give it up at one barrel/illegal/day. 12,000,000 barrels per day! One of these days we're going to wake up and the economy is going to be in the tank 'cause no one can afford anything, from food to vacations. Jobs lost, crime up, holy smokes Batman! I'm all for alternative fuels, but let's face it-they're not going to be feasible (at least in "full sized for work" trucks for a while. I can't imagine pulling a 29' trailer with a battery powered truck! :{

I could feel just a little for the oil companies, if they were running a thin margin, but not when they are posting record profits. They got big $$$ from congress in tax relief on the supposed promise they would use it to build more refineries. So far, not one has shown up. The money in one case, reported on the news was it is being used to buy up their own stocks. And not a word on the development of biodiesel. I'll hoist a cold one to a crude refinery sitting idle, because some college kids put their heads together and formed a company producing viable biodiesel, so they could tell Exxon, BP and the rest to shove it. The current state of oil production and sales, is nothing more than gouging.

totally agree, I'd rather put my money in the local farmers pocket before anyone in the oil industry... . let's put some of the farmers that were drove out buy the big corps back into business... how many farmers out there could be growing soy... but I guess that's what you get when your president comes from a big oil money background... . :rolleyes:

The (school) bus industry is being driven to convert to alt fuels and cut diesel altogether in Cal. A study performed by a university in LA says diesel emissions cause cancer. I have a copy of the article 'round here somewhere... ... ...

"Biodiesel, because it never will be necessary to invade Iowa!!" Sums it up I would say. The quote is from http://www.frybrid.com/forum/index.php?

macdaddy why is there a shortage?? Is fuel being consumed at a rabid pace despite high prices, or is supply down considerably?

Vaughn

Hey Vaughn

The state (Ca) is consuming 48millions per day of Gas, Jet and Diesel while all 13 refineries can only produce 45 million. We have to make up the difference somewhere. We're in the engineering phase of a $700 million five year expansion, contingent on permitting. Our liberal senators are sure doing some back peddling by now saying that they will likely not lobby to stop expanding the existing refineries :rolleyes:.

Vaughn keep in mind that your friendly neighborhood refinery workers are spending the same amount for a tank of diesel as the rest. Be happy your still able to run the EPA blend in Wa St, I was just in Mt Vernon enjoying the prices up there. I just filled up with CARB yesterday for $3. 11 per gal :eek

Look for Carb prices to be near the $4. 00 per gal mark by next summer. with the EPA's new ULSD in the low $3. 00 area in the PNW.
