What is Fuel Costing where you are.

way cool diesel utility machine

I have been seriously considering going to school to learn mechanics. I have always been interested in cars and trucks and had considered going to the local technical school to learn, but now that I am into diesel I find it the more interesting and I am pretty sure Ivy Tech does not have a diesel program.

I only have a few credit hours to graduate from Indiana State University with my business degree and have been looking at some schools.

My question is what are some good ones to consider and has anyone been to any of them. I have looked at UTI and WyoTech. They both seem nice.

Thanks in advance for the help.

What ever you do, finish that buisness degree. I wish I would have gotten a buisness degree along with my technical degrees.

My brother went to Nashville auto diesel college and had no problem finding a job just out of school but would have had to of moved to get into the really good paying jobs. He seemed to have gotten a good background in diesel mechanics there, but probably learned more practical stuff on the job.

I would think Indiana would be a good location for finding good diesel mechanics jobs.

Holeshotholset, we started playing with a few motors at school and the teachers encouraged it! In my basic fuel systems class we spent 2 classes just talking about how to modify the cummins PT system :) Teacher said we're all going to do it eventually, so might as well know the correct way.

(ever hear an L10 at 4000rpm? :))

I Graduated from UTI..... Great program! They had at the time... and probably have more now... . 35 Running engines that you test and tune on. When I was leaving they had just gotten 2 complete trucks. They cover Transport Refridgeration(expert at that one... get in the truck with my X GF once!) Hydraulics, Allisons, The Big manual trans's, air brakes, and of course the important stuff the Engines. If I remember right just Diesel is about a year long.

PM me with any questions as well!

Hrmmm... . I always figured that the instructors would frown upon that sort of thing. Maybe I wouldn't get kicked out afterall...

Hrmmmmmmm... .

Went to University of Northwest Ohio. Formerly Northwestern U. Lima, Ohio I have sent several of my students from my JVS class to this school. There is an instructor there who pulles a diesel truck.

I graduated from WYO TECH in 01! Before then when I was resurching my options for a good diesel school the general concensus among the business world was that Wyo Tech has the best diesel program. I was in and out in 9 months with an associates degree a major in Diesel Technology and a minor in business.

I know several that went there. I would have if I went to diesel school.
