Hydrogen in Diesel engine gets 80% better mpg

WVO to blend or not blend

I thought i'd start a new thread with inflation factored into DSE's . 46 cents per gallon. that is my actual cost on a 20 gallon batch.

I have been driving about a week, about 250 miles and so far i am very pleased. my truck seems to be quieter and it seems to have better throttle response. the only real difference that i can tell is that it takes slightly longer to warm up before i candro[ it in gear. the oil that i am using for this initial test is commercialy recycle and filtered sunflower oil. the mixture is pretty close to #2 diesel. temps have been in the low 70's. this blend should be good down to low 30's.

the only modification that i have done to my truck is the installation of a fleetguard coolant heated filter. i would strongly reccomend that anyone wanting to use DSE's formula do something similar.

now the big question. is the DIESEL SECRET ENERGY formula snake oil or is for real? I HAVE NO IDEA. i am not a chemist, but for a cost of . 15 cents a gallon, i will continue to use it until someone convinces me that it is snake oil.

I hope others that are trying this formula will add their comments either positive or negative.

Ok, just made it over from the other thread. Please do keep us posted on the testing. I'm curious how many miles you currently have on the truck? I'm confused about the statement regarding the amount of time you have to wait before you drive. How much longer? Why is this? Do you plug in the block heater before you start it? Does the block heater also heat the fuel through the fleetguard heated filter?

My truck has 110,000 miles on it. i have NEVER plugged my block heater in. but yes, if you did plug it in it would heat the fuel in the fleetguard filter. remember that the guys running stright WVO will start on diesel and let it warm up before switching to WVO. I am starting and running on the DSE blend. prior to this, when my truck was cold, i could startup and drive within 10 seconds. with the blend it will run a little rough for about 10 seconds and then smooth out in about 20 seconds. i have an automatic trans and because fluid does not circulate in park very well, i shift into neutral for a few seconds before shifting into drive.

by the way. i amin no way connected or affiliated with DSE.

Jim,

Where did you get the sunflower oil? Is it available via a reseller? or is it used oil you have got for free from a source?

. 15 cents a gallon? Please explain. .

Thanks Jeff

i am in northeastern wisconsin. there is a commercial processer near me who has an almost unlimited supply. he won't tell me where he gets it, and i don't blame him. i suspect it is one of the potato chip manufaturers since there are several in northcentral wisconsin. he supplys several over the road trucks. one of them has over 300,000 miles running this oil. (he says)

the ,15 cents that i was refering to was the cost of the DSE additive.

jim

Jim -- Speaking of running. How is it running? Your DSE experience continued to be good?

Let me get the forumla down.

it's oil + 2 gallon of kero and 1 gallon of gas and the DSE treatment and Diesel Kleen?

Can you run through the exact ratio's again?

Thanks man.

truck is running great. actually it seems to be running better than on #2 diesel.

the informational booklet has a chart in it for various quantities but i'll post for a 20 gallon batch.

20 gal wvo - 2 gal kero - 1 gal reg gas - 15 oz diesel ser. (gray bottle) -6 oz DSE

of course, you can only buy the DSE directly from them.

DSE claims that you do not have to do any modifications to your vehicle and will be good down to 30 degrees f. however as i've pointed out previously, i would install a heated filter.

jim

I would tend to agree with you, however due to the relatively low cost (. 15 cents per gallon) i will continue to use it. there are ingrediaents listed on the bottle, but i am not a chemist. there may be ingredients in it that help to breakdown the was and glycerides.

Jim --

Thanks for the update!

One thought came to mind:

Cooker's question above leads me to wonder if you lived in a warm weather climate like I do where it really never gets much below 70 degrees would you be inclined to think that passing on the DSE secret (or not so secret) treatment would be ok? I'm wondering if it serves any other purpose other than thinning the oil. Seems to me that adding 6 oz. of anything to a 23 gallon potion consisting of 20 gallons of oil, 2 gallons of kerosine, 1 gallon of gasoline and 15 oz. of Diesel Kleen can only have so much of an effect. I wonder if you just bumped the Diesel Kleen up to 21 oz. if you'd be in the same place... .

Just thinking out loud. Not criticizing & I understand and agree with your position that the price is so cheap it's probably worth it just to buy their potion.

But it would be nice to know if the oil/kero/gas/DK combo stands on it's own as a viable replacement.

I don't think the DSE has anything to do with the ambient temperature or the temperature of the fuel blend. the kerosine and gasoline does the thinning. I also don't think the diesel service has anything to do with temperature. it is intended to boost the cetane and clean the injectors. here again, you could probably eliminate the diesel service if you were'nt using it before. but is it worth the risk considering how little it costs per gallon.

as far as warm climate is concerened. I am a full time RV'er. i spend my summer months in wisconsin and november through april i arizona, new mexico, nevada or?

however i still would reccomend the coolant heated filter with ball valve to keep the consistency as close to #2 diesel as possible.

jim

one more bit of information. i was able to buy kerosene at the fleet farm from the pump for 2. 88 per gallon. the only other place i found kerosene was at menards in 2 1/2 gal jug for 11. 99. if kerosene is not readily abailabe you could substitute #1 diesel. the consistency etc is almost identical.

jim

another thing in the book says you could opt to replace the kerosene with 20% #2 diesel... . They said the mixtrue is good to 30 degrees and if you do 50/50 DSE and #2 it is as good for any temp like down to 0 deg.

i am doing a sef-contained pump and filter system with a 30 gal barrel. I am attaching the pumps and filters to the barrel base which is on wheels so I can roll it out to the truck to hand-pump it into the truck... . This is to save space in my garage... .

Haven't gotten any oil yet as I only have 1 day a week off and not home during the week so my progress is slow...

ok, what the heck is DSE? What does it do and where do you get it? As many miles as I drive, I am always looking for a way to improve milage or cut corners on fuel prices.

I am in the process of putting together an on board filter system. i ordered the 135. 00 filrite pump and strainer from www.redlinepumps.com i am connecting it to a double water filter. one will have a 20 micron element the other will have a 5 micron element. the outlet side of the pumpwill have a goldenrod waterblock filter. I am hoping this will work to filter and pump directly into my auxiliary tank.

Jim, what is the model of the coolant heater, and what did it cost? What size fuel line connects to it and where/how did you mount it?
