What is the best product to remove diesel soot from the end of the chrome tailpipe and the rear quad panel that also has built up?

Tried WD40 but didn't seem to quite do the job.

I just use plain old polish on mine. Nu Finish, Meguiars Tech Wax orTurtle Wax Platinum. Sometimes it takes a little elbow grease if there is a lot of build up but usally comes right off with out a problem.

Hey, sorry to hijack but i have an opposite question. I just got some chrome stacks to replace my black ones, but there is a scratch in the chrome on the mouth. Will a good coating of soot stop or prevent rust?

i use a product called "bugs b gone" it says right on the bottle "takes soot off exhaust stacks" which was good enough for me... . its worked good for me...

Soap? That's all I use on my truck.

With the chrome tip, use a 000 or 0000 steel wool and that will polish it right up. Used to help washing big rigs when I was in high school and that's what we used to get junk off the chrome.

My tailpipe is painted, so I just throw another coat on when it get's nasty.

I use aluminum wheel cleaner on the chrome exhaust and the chrome steps, works pretty good taking the unk off i got soot all over my right rear bumber, lol must be putting out some smoke eh??
