Diesel Spill

After driving two miles to town, got out of my truck and smelled diesel, pouring out from under the engine, so I popped the hood and started it up and the leak is under the plastic black cover on the fuel filter. Has anybody had this experience? Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you changed your filter? The o ring could be put on incorrectly or broken or the plastic top could be cracked. Have never had it happen but am very careful with plastic.

Truck has 9,000 mi,I have not changed filter yet,maybe this is the problem,some preasure inside?

Check to see if the top is tight and if it is open it up and check the gasket

Don't the newer rigs have cheapo water drains on the filter that can fail?

Yeah that chezzy drain never seamed right from the start,anyway changed filter tonite and the old o-ring was crushed very thin on one side. Just fired it up and no leaks,I hope that was it,kinda weird as leak seemed intermittent. We'll see how it drives manana. thanks guys
