If you find yourself at DC

you can get a turbo diesel in the bmw 3 series in the ix config in europe [i think it is 3ish liters displacment] and lets not forget the 150hp version of the vw golf gti with the 1. 9L TDI with 4motion [iirc] :D:D:D

Yes he did. His son Lyle ran one in the 50's that was winning but it got rubber in its turbo from the other cars wheels and it locked the turbo up. They built it with the old style "J" engine wich had 24 valves and 401 cid. They cast an aluminum block and laid it on its side to keep the center of gravity low. There is a movie about that car and its being built. I used to have it on video till I loaned it to a friend and never got it back. I bet Cummins has it somwhere and I Know Lyle Cummins must have it.

That new Benz sure is ugly!! The nicest looking one that never ages in style is the 450SL. Too bad they don't make that new diesel like a 300SL. These new wedge shaped things look so stupid. Not long lived classiness.

UGLY!

Blakers - right on man. It looks like another rice burner, but I guess they will fool ya. Won't even sound like a diesel!

Looks like a LeMans contender!

Here's a scarry one for you guys not fluent in Euro-cars: Opel (in Europe) and Vauxall (in England) are GM's overseas branch!! So, GM has access to existing multi-squirters, variable turbos, etc... yet they give us Americans the left-over swill... nice, very nice.

After GM put out the 350 cubic inch converted gasoline to chevy v8 in the late 70s no one ever wanted another GM diesel. Infact that soured half the American public. Heck most Americans think diesels stink and are bad for the enviroment. Thats why Toyota sells gasoline hybrids instead of diesel and people who by them think they are saving the enviorment. They only get about 50 MPG. I hate to even think about what happens when the battery pack gets week. I heard the battery pack costs 8K. Heck the old '80 diesel rabit got that easily and it wasn't even turbocharged and did not have direct injections which is at least 10% more efficiant than prechamber engines. The rest of the word runs on diesel because they know that burng only 60% of the fuel of a gasoline engine and no CO is good for the enviroment.
