Not many of you know me but I do read here allot and I post allot over on the www.NWBombers.com site. Here is what I posted on the Bombers site enjoy.

This from your 1ST place finisher at Diesel Thunder at the races.

I have to tell you all first that all the credit to getting me out on the track for the first time with the truck has to goto Mrs. Hoss.

The Truck 1993 DRW 1 TON with 180,000+ miles

I was a little worried about hurting my truck and at one time just thought well maybe I will just run it with the camper and take it easy on the truck.

Well as soon as I got to the pits the gloves came off allong with the camper. Is this how it allways happens?

Keep in mind I drove over and back with the camper from Seattle to Spokane 300 miles each way with some pretty good hills.

Going through tech was a breeze and so I went and lined up for my first run down the track. As I get up there for my first run my right foot started to jump around like a mexican jumping bean.

I ran down the track 1st, 2nd, 3rd and then well dam the truck did not go into overdrive. I ran a 16. 9 1/4 mile.

After that run I drove back to the pits got out the 11mm wrench and did a little turn on the TPS to get the overdrive to shift sooner. Little did I know I turned it the wrong way. Again the truck ran another 16. 9.

Well wanting to get it right I went straight out to the main road offsite and set the transmission to shift into overdrive.

I then returned for a third run down the track to get a good idea what I could run the track. Finally the truck shifts into overdrive and my time droped to a 16. 74 and a little change.

My first run down the track was with Opie and I figured it would all be over real fast and I could go back to the pits after being schooled by one of the best.

We get to the end of the track and we both break out with the win going to me. I was stoked just a little bit but had just ran a 16. 4 and change. My dial in was a 16. 70.

I returned to the pits and went right to the tower to see about changing my dial in. They said it was ok as long as I made it a lower number and not a higher number.

My next run was with a 04 Dodge with a dial in of 16. 32 and well that would have been a real close race but as luck would be I hit the brakes way before the end of the track for my second win.

Next up was another big dog MR Fletcher. Let me first tell you a a little story.

I goto the boeing air feild every year to see the blue angels take off. Its cool they line up push the stick forward and let the brake off with there landing lights on and smoke billowing out to put on a good show as you stand 100 yards to the side of the run way. Its loud real loud and to see 6 of them going by it just makes your insides tingle as if you were sitting in a car with a couple 20" woofers or a top fuel drag car going by a 300MPH.

Now back to the track with my new dial in of 16. 40 on the window and Mr Fletchers at a 10 and change. This gave me a 6 plus second head start and a chance to see what was coming as I looked in my rear veiw mirror.

I get about half track and all I can see is this huge black cloud billowing high into the air and one head light coming fast real fast. "Insert thought dam this thing is going to suck me into a black hole" I mean this thinglooked like a mid 20's steam train on some kind of crazy drugs coming so fast I figured this was it I was done I was going to the pits to load the camper up and watch the rest of the races play out. Not to be Fletcher broke out and I stayed under my break out with a 16. 43.

I rush back to see who the next truck would be like a kid in a candy store now. Its this hopped up red truck from Montana MR. Fuller that I had spent the day before coming over from Seattle to Spokane. Its just me and him and I am thrilled that I made it so far with so little.

We get up to the line and the light turns green for me. As I go down the track I see that his truck has not left the line. The tower says we have to have a re-run because the tree screwed up.

I was now getting concerned that the truck had been run pretty hard all day and well I still rushed back to the lanes and lined up.

I waited and waited and after some time the tower says its going to be a solo run.

To make it right I take my solo run and do my last bomb down the track for all the people in the stands. I could here them wistle and clap even over the trucks free flowing exhaust.

I wish I could have run agaist the other truck but later found out he had started loading up and did not want to come back up to run again.

I so enjoyed the night I cannot remember a night more exciting in allong time.

Thanks to: NWCustom, Davis Diesel and all the other Diesel Thunder event Sponsors for putting on a great event.

And Thanks to all that made me feel so welcome and good after the event specially Mr and Mrs. Hoss, Mr. Fuller and Jason of NWCustoms.

There were also many people that really helped me with my dial in times Wess(Desperodo) took a run down the track with me and gave me a few pointers. Ronda filled me in as well for my last run there was never a question un-answered during the hole night people were great.

Thanks for the report!!!

I would have come down also but I was reinstalling my transmission and doing housework. My goal was to come down after the transmission was in but I found out after I did that I need a hot bath and a stiff drink.

Nice pictures... . BTW what did your truck put out on the dyno?

I did not run the dyno it was at a differant location and I did not want to take the camper off twice.

I figure it is in the 210-230HP range though.

The nice thing about bracket races is even the slow guy gets a good chance to win.

Way to go! Oo. :)

Man , you had to walking tall after that day. Not often everything will go that way and when it does it is something to enjoy.

Nice looking rig!

Great Lance

Wanted to do Diesel Thunder but could not work out the logistics - next year for sure though. Did you dyno?

Bob

Sorry Bob there was no dyno for the truck that day. I had the camper on at the show-n-shine and did not want to take it off to run the dyno.

When I got to the track it was a differant story I could not resist taking it off... :-laf
