I have bought a bottle of Diesel Treat 2000 Synshield Lubricity made by Schaeffer, on the front of the bottle, it reads "Puts the Lubricity back into Today's Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel Fuels". It has on the back of the bottle "meets Cummins L-10 Superior Detergent" I will not use it until I get a consensus on it. It it is supposed to be a new product.

Bump ;anyone with any comments?

Yes. This is a good product. It was posted on BITOG that the wear scar is lower than the requirement. But from what I have seen, and there could be an * there, there are some better. The wear scar from the Diesel treat was below 450, which is the spec #. From the Standyne site theirs is 382, John Deere about the same. Also Power Service was better than the Diesel Treat.

NOW, the Diesel Treat was tested alone for that number. Was the others? Or were they tested with the 500ppm diesel fuel? Might make a difference.

I believe the John Deere stuff is made by Stanadyne. Seems like I read somewhere that equal parts Stanadyne/2 stroke injector oil and the wear scar went way down.

I always add a little injector oil... it can't hurt.

GLASMITHS,

Do you have a link for that article? I would like to read it. I tried to find it @BITOG but couldn't.

Yeah I know you couldn't! A tee-teeing match broke out and some threats like :-laf Well you know from here :-laf And it was locked and removed. However, here it is, the post by the Shaf Rep:

**********************************************************

The new hfrr (astm d6079) test was designed to test the lubricity for new ulsd. A wear scar minimum of 520 by the ema. 460 is what the fuel injector manufacturers would like to see. ulsd w/o additive comes in at about 560.

Schaeffers fuel adds come in at 454 w/o any sulfur in it. It is new technology designed for ulsd.

Btw

Currently sulfur coming thru the pipeline is running anywhere from 100 to 400 ppm as refiners are already pumping ulsd thru the system gearing up for the oct 15 deadline. You are currently running low to ultra-low sulfur fuel.

**********************************************************

I tried to get the info from the Stanadyne site to post here but the pdf locked up my computer and had to log off :{ so this is the second time I have done this post. On second thought, maybe the info on Stanadyne is somewhat out-dated. They are coming out with a new lubricity formula, and probably the others as well. Looking at the chart, there are quite a few additives that people on the TDR use that don't measure up. Hopefully they will bring them up. :)

Here ya go  MAYBE this will work. It has been heavely edited. :D

Soy Oil as Additive

If I figure it right I would need about 40 Oz. to a full tank of Soy . Not nearly what I have been using. I have been using 4 to 5 oz. per fill which is the Lucas

reccomendation for the same fill of 20 gal. One thing I did notice right off is that the Lucas definitely reduces smoking on take off from a stop and at shift points and the Soy does not. I feel that the miliage is noticably better with the

Lucas in the tank buthave not done the strict testing that would be required to

prove it to myself fully. I gotta do some more research, 1 qt. per fill is a lot of Soy to carry around, I sometimes run 700 to 800 miles per day. ... R C

As a comparison, anybody know what the numbers are on AMSOIL Diesel Fuel Modifier? GregH.
