Which FASS and where to order?

My PE4200 just took a dump!

I am looking for some info on the use of the "Diesel Turbo Life Saver" from Geno's Garage. Are they worth the investment? Has anyone out there had any problems with one? Any reply's would be appreciated. :

Installed one on my truck a few weeks ago.
Followed instructions ( exelent instructions including pictures ) would have taken about an hour but I re located the timer switch to the steering wheel cowl ( more convienient ) so it took a little longer. Every thing fit, everything was included, no bs, no hassels. works like a charm, you dont have to wast a lot of time baby sitting the cool down.
You set the timmer, shut the key off, lock the doors and when it times out it shuts off. If some one breaks in while it is timming and hits the brake it shuts down immediatly, if you also turned on the kill switch when you set the timmer it cannot be restarted even with the ignition key untill the kill switch is turned off. You can also turn on the kill switch and crank the engine to do diagnostics or to prelube the engine befor starting. It is a great add on, adds on some security and time saving convienence. Wonderful for emergency pit stops while traveling>> no waiting for a cool down <<<< Next greatest thing to a DTT tc & vb
If you care to build your own you can do a search on cool down timers, several members have posted the circuits and material lists.

I'll second that!!! It is a great device and so nice to not have to sit in the truck at the shopping center while it cools down. No problems to date - it has been installed for about 4 months.

What do you guys think about the Geno unit vs. ISS units that base the shutdown on actually temps? I like the simplicity of the Geno unit, but there is a little quesswork involved since the shutdown is not based on actual temperatures. On the other hand, I don't like the idea of drilling into the turbo pipe to install a thermocouple. Probably no harm in that, but why do it if its not required.

Thanks,

I just installed Howards cool down timer... . works like a dream and was a realtively simple install:) considering putting air in the tires is a challenge for me:confused:

I have the one from Genosgarage. It utilizes the cruise control switch to activate it. I did'nt put it in though, the original owner did. The only problem is that sometimes the cruise control does not want to engage while driving down the road. Have'nt figured it out yet but, someday... ... ... ... .

I thought the Geno's one required you to cut into some wires on the 03's? I may be mistaken but I installed the one from cool-downtimer.com and couldn't be happier. Three wires, no cutting and works as advertised. I usually base my cool down run on my pyro temp. Unfortunately it is not on a circuit that stays hot without the key but so far on 90* days 6 minutes has always gotten well below 300*. Just my 2 cents!

i have a 93 (non-wastegated), and wanted to know if the turbo timer nedded a wastegate for one reason or another. i would really like one because i used to have a mazda rx-7 equipped with on and loved it.

Thanks All,
