The two biggest reasons fuel cost us so much

why is diesel still higher than gas???

Today I saw Diesel at $3. 19, unleaded was $3. 31, that spread was at most stations with diesel, I haven't seen Diesel at a lower price for about 3 or 4 years, I wonder what's happenin?

When gas prices have gone up over the past year/year and a half here in Fort Worth, diesel takes about two weeks to move. So this usually makes diesel cheaper for us. It does just the same though when the gas prices start dropping. it takes diesel a couple of weeks to start dropping.

Right now diesel is $2. 75 and reg unleaded is $2. 79

Its the other way around where I live. Diesel is anywhere from . 40 to . 60 higher than regular unleaded! Diesel here is now $3. 29/gal. Regular unleaded is $2. 79 at most places.

Ouch! We're moving to San Diego later this summer, I'm not looking forward to $100 fill-ups. Reg unleaded is about $3. 00 here in Maryland, diesel can still be found for $2. 82. Been that way for about three weeks.

diesel is 2. 71 here and gas just came down to right around that number for the lowest octane gasoline. I am seeing a few 2. 68 prices for 87 octane and a lot of 2. 73 for 87 octane gas.

Diesel has been holding pretty steady lately, went up 2 cents a week or two ago and before then had been 2. 69 for a few weeks.

This is in eastern tennessee

You sure got that right, last tank I filled up @$3. 19 premium gas was only $2. 99, we have been paying . 20-. 50 more per gallon for diesel for the last year and half, I am ******, The futures market hasn't had anywhere near this kinda spread for sometime, infact heating oil is tradeing less than gas, the rockies and the west have been getting soaked when it comes to diesel, I am still trying to figure out what the deal is,because it appears its only a local thing, for this kind of money one could go up to michigan in the above post and tank 12,000 gallons of diesel to utah and make about 6 grand a load, kinda suprising noone is doing it

Diesel here in Maine has run the price of premium unleaded until recently. It is now about the price of regular unleaded, sometimes about 2 cents cheaper. I heard on the news that this time of year gas prices go up as refineries add 'summer' anti-pollution additives that drive the price up.

I will be curious to see how expensive the ultra-low sulphur diesel is when it comes out.

for the moment diesel is running slightly under gas prices around here, last fill up it was 2. 739 for diesel and 2. 909 for preimum (my hotroded bimmer takes the good stuff) at the cheep truck stop by home, across the river in baton rouge everything is a dime or so higher for gas and around . 20 higher for diesel on avarage

Call me crazy, I am estatic paying 2. 99 per gallon. I hope it stays that way for a long long time! We all know it isn't gonna drop any. I'd rather have that than the alternative... Just wait till August when the hurricanes blow in.....

You got it! I had the CEO of the Florida Petroleum Marketers Association call me back last year after Katrina. I had asked him if their was a valid reason why diesel would go from being 8-10 cents less than regular to being ten cents more than premium in less than a month. He point blank said "No sir, you're gettin' gouged!" In fact, he said that generally, most retailers are (were) getting gouged as well. He said that the refiners and distributors get in cahoots and hold the price up because they know that FEMA, the Guard, and clean up crews are mainly using diesel. Now, I don't think that's the case anymore. I see the prices change overnight around here now. My guess is refiners are piling on 20-50 cents on every gallon of fuel they're selling and now the retailers in many cases are trying to squeeze in a little extra margin as well wherever they can. This CEO guy did say one very interesting thing and it was that Biodiesel was coming sooner than we may think and he expected it to be big!!!

Today in Bismarck ND regular unleaded 87 2. 87 ethanol the first time I have ever seen it here is 2. 89 higher than regular always been same price for many years. Diesel 2. 86 first time in a long time it has been close to or less than gas.

I'm in San Diego. Reg87 is about $3. 35 at the cheap places, 3. 50+ at the

Company stores. Diesel is typically similar to 87 although lately I've seen it a

few cents cheaper.
