Archived Diesels don't run on gas

'06 truck that belongs to my buddy, late last night, tired and groggy he fills an empty tank with regular unleaded. Figures out what he did when the truck starts to lurch and shut it down immediately. Off to the mechanic tonight so no prognosis yet. Anyone ever hear of a boner like this? What kind of damage? Keep you posted. J.

Opps? :--) Hopefully just draining the tank, changing fuel filter, fresh fuel and a prayer will do it. Keep my fingers crossed for your buddy.

Clean it all out and he should be OK.

I put about 17 gals in mine. Drained the tank and changed the filter, filled ti up with fuel and added a qt. of 5w30 oil and was good to go. That was about 50k mi. ago and no problems. I added the oil for lubrication of the pump. I only drove the truck about 1/2 mile to a repair fac.

2. flush the tank

3. drain the tank again

4. bleed the fuel lines

5. pray to your God

6. count your lucky stars if you are lucky!!

I almost put diesel in my buddies truck the other day. Ram like mine but a 1500. Thing that stopped me was the nozzle didn't fit

Dealer covered my butt!

:{ I did it a number of years ago. A guy pulled up and we started talking Cummin's diesels and lo and behold I had pumped seven gallons of reg. in there. Towed to dealer who called the next day to tell me "no charge for repair,you had a collapsed tank due to failure of delivering dealer to remove vent cover used in transit" New tank installed in two days. I made out on that one.

Well, the '06 lives on. Was told that he may have some feul delivery problems in the very distant future, about when the warranty is up. The IP may be lightly scored. At least he can drive it while he saves his money for the repairs.
