Honda & Subaru diesels in '08?!

Does anyone know the difference between a gas and diesel clutch disc? Is it heavier duty?

I may have a Big Block chevy clutch behind the 4BT instead of the diesel clutch. But, I ordered a 4BT clutch. Have tore up two this year. Springs come out of the disc at about 3000 - 5000 miles.

Doing nothing heavy with it - just driving to work.

I have found a LUK part number for the 4BT clutch in a P30 van.

4BT/NV4500/NP205

Depending on you model of 4BT you can be putting down over 333 ft lbs of TQ with 130 hp. An older Chevy inline six (gas) is rated around 150 hp at 200 ft lbs of TQ. These numbers are from my research a few years ago when I planning on putting a 4BT into a FJ40 Toyota that had a chevy inline 6. A gasser clutch is not going to be as heavy duty (spring wise) as a diesel one.

I've got the 105 horse. I think it is the lower end torque that is killing the clutches.

The BBC clutches fit OK and I have not seen a diesel clutch to compare it to. So, maybe I have the diesel clutch and something else is tearing the clutches up.

When I pull them out the clutch pads still look new and it works perfect right up until the springs pop out.

About 23-25mpg. But, I was getting better with 3. 73 and 33s. Now I have 4. 56 and 33s. Going to 36s w/hummer rims when I get my new centers.

I was reading the latest issue of TDR Mag about 20 minutes ago in the 'library' and saw SBC . I will call them tomorrow about a clutch. I haven't ordered yet so I'd just as soon get it from the experts. I'm tired of pulling this thing apart.
