2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Diff. level

Could someone please tell me what is the correct level for the rear end with a mag-hytec cover?There are two lines on the dip stick. Is the top one the correct level? I changed the oil and it took 6 1/2 qts of Amsoil to the top ring. That seems like a awful lot. Is that correct?

do you have a Dana 70 diff. ??? if so according to the Geno's Garage catalog, it should take 12 pints,( 6 quarts) for the Mag-Hytec cover

I guess that's right then. I have the Dana 80.

you now state that you have a Dana 80, Geno's lists that it should take 16 pints (8 quarts),

When I installed my Mag cover I pulled the oem cover off and let it drain over night, then the next day I jacked up each side one at a time and got about another quart out of it so that may be youe difference.

Preston, I bought 8 quarts when I put mine on (Dana 80) and 7 quarts put me right between the two lines. How much it would take probably depends on how much oil was left in you're hubs. I would expect they would hold a pint or so each.
