I'm just wondering how much 315's slow you down in the 1/4 mile compared to 285's? Has anyone ever ran the same truck/same day with both 285's and 315's to compare 1/4 times?

I imagine the 315's will slow you down quite a bit - I remember how gutless my stock CTD became when I put my 315's on... it became a total slug even with the 4. 10's.

Thanks

Mine pigged when I put 315's on too... I run 3. 55 gears... . I've read where people say they get better fuel mileage with them b/c of the drop in RPM at speed, but I think they are FOS... .

Nice lookin truck BTW! are those 3rd gen rims?

i run the 315's and if i keep my foot out of it i'll run 19. 5 mpg on the road, as far as quarter mile times i can't say, but the 315's def did not hurt my mpg

Sorry I can't answer your question but for others that are curious, I gained in the quarter and in mpg by going with my 295's over the stockers. I have 4:10 gears though.

Unless you have corrected your speedo you getting even better mileage than that. Since the 315s are larger than stock you are going farther than indicated. Possibly 8% better. That would put you closer to 21mpg.

Bump -

Someone's got to know the answer... I've read several posts where guys claim they take off their 315's and put on 285's when they go to the drag strip.

If i did my math correctly, the difference is about 10%... now i've never been all that good in math so i may be wrong... however, assuming my 10% number, the 19. 5 is corrected using that... on the contrary, I wish to &^## you were right with the cost of fuel anymore
