Difference between pumps?

First ever post for new member I have only had my truck a short time and am getting familiar with all the pumps. I have had the transfer pump replaced and the lift pump. Which one is the VP44?... I am a little confused about which one is which. Any insight would be appreciated...

Ok, so the VP44 is a term for the fuel delivery system and there are several components... ... The lift pump assists in pulling fuel from the tank and the transfer pump sends itdown the line?..... is that about right?... . Thanks again for the insight

From my limited G3 reading, the lift pump pressure of the HPCR (High Pressure Comon Rail) engines isnt so critical as volume. I dont think they have had the troubles the earlier 2nd Gen 24V trucks had, at least not in stock form. But, since it IS electronically controlled, and no electronic stuff is dependable (IMO), a fuel pressure gauge would be a good idea.
