Hello all,
I'm new to this site. I'm usually over at Ford-diesel.com, since that's what I drive. My Dad recently became a member of TDR but currently does not have web access so I'm filling in #ad
Anyway, I was wondering what the difference was between the "w" and "d" series in Dodges. I have seen listings for W250's and D250's and I have been toying around with maybe, just maybe getting a 1989-1993 Dodge Extended Cab 4x4 diesel (and keeping the Ford diesel I already have) and just didn't know the meaning of the w and the d. Thanks guys.

My Dad has a 1995 2500 Club Cab blue over gray 2wd, and she's straight piped! I drive a Ford Diesel. What can I say I like 'em both!

I'll take a stab... . The D is for the 2WD versions of the trucks in the years 89 - 93 and the W is for the 4WD.
Good luck on finding a older CUMMINS. No one wants to give them up! #ad

From this forum you should get all the info you need and more to make a good purchase. Just dig through the archives and you'll see what I mean.
Welcome aboard! See... No Bashing!!! We're civil over here #ad

Oh ya... The extended cabs were only available in the '92 and up models. At least I haven't seen a '91 extended cab.

Lil'Dog,
Thanks for the info! I'm not sure how serious I am about getting another truck right yet. I figure if the right deal comes along then I'll grab it (granted the cash is there to do it) I'm not quite sure ;I can afford to modify two trucks at the same time. What can I say, as long as it's a truck and doesn't have spark plugs, I'll drive it! Anyway, thanks for the quick response.

Welcome Jerry.
You'll find good folks, and good diesel over here.

'98 2500, Cummins 12v, 5spd, 4wd, 3. 55, GOT DIESEL?

This must be Dodge Country, because on any given week, one can usually find anywhere from 1 to 5 1st gen club cab diesels in the Truck Trader. Most of them are from private parties and most are well over $10K.

I did see one a few months ago that was 2wd and it was only $6800 w/90K miles. I doubt it lasted a day.

PW,
Thats not the story up here... Hens Teeth!!!
I'm trying to find a 92 and up CC and they are few and far between. The search even gets tougher when you want the "stir stick" instead of the "Slush box". #ad

Just like Jerry, I don't have unlimited funds.

BW,
I don't know about the duty on used vehicles. I think it drops off after 5 years on the vehicle, the big deal is the exchange rate.
All the dealers up here are selling their trucks to go to the U. S. !!!! Which means its more of who you know at the dealer, or you have to wait for someone to sell it privately. With the reduced amount available the prices are between $16K and $22K CDN depending on the KMs on the machine.
I looked at one last weekend and the dealer wouldn't even dicker on the price, as soon as I left he was on the phone. Today I noticed it is nolonger advertised on CanadaTrader.com. #ad

Hi Jerry.

This site is really great and your desirous of a fine truck.

Oregon seems to have a dis-proportional amount of 1st gen trucks.
Smart people those Oregonians!

What Lil' Dog said is definitely true for So. California too. I was willing to drive anywhere to get one but found mine in Long Beach, 25 miles away!! I was not the first person to call the owner about the truck on the first day the ad was out but she called me back first because I left 4 messages that day. Gladly paid her full price .
