Are there manual front hub kits available for these trucks?

What are the differences between the 2500 and the 3500 automatic? Different rear axles, different springs, any heavy duty ptions on the 3500 that are not availiable on the 2500?
The 2500 is rated at13,650 trailer weight and the 3500 is at 13,350, bt they are bth at 20,000 for combined weight so is the only reason why you would haul with the 3500 is for better stability?

You nailed it. The only difference is more stability. Same frame and springs. The 3500 used to come with slightly bigger brakes, but I don't think that's the case anymore. It comes with a Dana 80 rear axle wether you get an auto or manual (the 2500 has a Dana 70 with the auto, and Dana 80 with manual). Other than 2 extra wheels and dually fenders, that's it.

I think you'll find that the main difference between the two is not so much what you can haul (the 2500 is rated higher in this category) but what you can carry. For those carting any of the larger campers the 3500 is the logical choice and even here you can (on paper) be overloaded in short order.

Would it be possible to order the 2500 with the dana 80 axle with the automatic? What could be the difference, parking brake maybe?

You state the frames of the 2500 and 3500 are identical. While the frame depth (web) is 9. 5 inches for both, the flange width of the frame rails is different. From the 2000 sales brochure, the frame flange widths are 2. 85 and 3. 65 inches for the 2500 and 3500, respectively.

The chassis cab 3500 model has an 11 inch frame depth and additional crossmembers.

And...

The chassis cab wheelbase is 4" and (I think) 10" longer.

I wouldn't worry about the difference between the 70 and 80. If you really need the 80, you probably need the 3500 AND the manual...
