since I've decided to keep the '01, I'm looking to put an exhaust on it. I DO NOT want it to be any louder at idle/city driving. A good throaty growl when I put it thru the floorboard is welcome though. Leaning towards Pinnacle, Rip, and JRE. What can y'all tell me about the difference in sound between these 3?

Thanks for any help and opinions!

I have the JRE and it has a deeper growl sound then most of the other afremarkets I have heard. Much more throatier i guess you can call it. Have not heard any other trucks out West hear that sounds the same. Always asked who did my exhaust. And no drone sound either. Good luck on your decision.

Also dependant on factors of Turbo , Exhaust elbow and bombs in general. For instance a JRE system on a stock truck sounds different than the SAME JRE exhaust on a truck with an HX-40 style 4" ehaust housing and an EZ.

*Disclaimer: JRE was used only as an example and was extreemly easy for me to spell, However now that I think of it DPP also is easy too. Your results may vary , See doctor for a physical before you begin treatment as it may not be the right treatment for you. Operators are standing by , some assembly required , see store for details. Act now supplies are limited.

I have a JRE and I agree it's a little more growlish, if I don't down shift on a turn and stomp it, kinda sounds like a loud snore/growl. My friends 2001 has a Banks in it and he stomped it one time and it had a loud low tone.

With my Rips exhaust, I don't notice much more noise in the cab when cruising. Start tipping into the throttle and it will reward you with a very pleasant, deep tone.

I am running a 4" with a muffler. I'm sure it barks outside, but I never hear it unless I am stomping on it with the windows down while next to a barricade or fence.

Sweet, sweet diesel music...

Back when Big Exhaust was getting their foot in the door on exhaust systems for our trucks. . I ended up with one of their systems with a 5" turndown. When the truck is idling you can hear the turbo or a little fluttering that they 16cm housing is making. It sounds like my buddy's 97 Peterbilt... Anyway once I start getting into the throttle. . that turndown takes over and the exhaust systems starts to growl a little. If I rap it up pretty tight before I shift. . I can hear the turbo spool down between shifts. .

I bet that would sound great out of a set of 6" stacks. .
