Okay,

I talked to the guy who did some pump modifications to my truck for the guy who used to own it before me. What he told me he did was put the manual transmission injector nozzles in my truck and did some tweaks to the pump? maybe slid the plate ahead, not sure.

Can anyone tell me what the nozzles are for injectors? I'm confused as to what is currently in my truck :)

Thanks for any help

Sounds like he installed 215s inplace of the 180 injectors. The nozzel is the part that has the hole in it at the tip I think.

Yup on both counts. You can take your old injectors and put new hi-perf nozzles on them. Or you can get new ones from Piers for about the same $.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies guys,

Is the injector or nozzle size the only difference between an auto and a manual? Or is there more differences between the p7100 pump and it's settings?

The pump calibration is different. I don't know the exact differences but there are several things that control fuel delivery at different RPM's in this pump.

Rack stop plate (fuel plate), delivery valves, etc.

Don't forget timing! Manual transmission P7100 trucks have more timing... .

I went to adjust timing on a '96 auto truck the other day... . and it already was at 18. 5°BTDC !!!!!!!! :--)

Needless to say... I retarded it by about 2°!

so by simply adding the new injector nozzles meant for the standard transmission trucks, is there much of a difference without having the proper pump modifications made as well?

Without the additional modifications to the pump is there really a performace gain with my auto?

Adding 215 injectors was the first performance modification I made to my truck (1996, Auto) and I can say that it honestly made a noticable difference. I gained 2-3 pounds of boost and a seat of the pants increase in HP (sorry no dyno numbers). I installed them before any other mods and this was the only mod done to the truck at the time.

Ryan,

I have been using the Snap On (Blue Point) kit... . I think the part # is SP-500. It has the special dial indicator, delivery valve holder replacement piece for dial indicator to chill out in (HIGHLY technical term... hehe), delivery valve holder socket, and the gear puller.

Works really slick... . when used in conjunction with the plunger lift vs. timing #'s chart... .

BTW, our trucks have injector nozzles and not injectors.

The term injector is thrown around sort of universally, but a true injector creates the pressure as well as spray the fuel. A nozzle just sprays the fuel charge that the pump created.

Not that it matters at all, I just thought I would try to clear the confusion.
