Different KDP jig?

Does anybody know if there is a jig for drilling threw the cover in front of the pin, if not does anybody know the measurments from the edge of the cover to the dowel pin. I just bought a 97 with 324K miles on it, one owner, and he says he has never taken care of the dowel pin, didn't even know what I was talking about.

Do a search, there are probably more posts on this than anything else! Lots of info about jigs, yes there are jigs available.

The gear case cover is too thin to tap for threads. The jigs install a screw in the gear case side that blocks the KDP by extending in front of it.



The alternative is to make a simple part we call a tab that is held in place by the closest gear case screw to the KDP and blocks it.

The following link will give you a good idea what is involved. It is a fairly simple job with the jig. We did mine at a first gen bombing party at Piers Diesel in a little over an hour.
