Does the level of TM make any difference for those of us with a manual transmission? Is it kinda like the "low boost fueling" on the Juice or is it a completely different animal. I know it's intended for the auto guys, but does it make any difference for the manual crowd?

Oh He!! Yeah. It makes a huge difference.

If you have time to mess with it, go load up Wild TM and go for a short spin. Don't tow with it.

I towed my new travel trailer home 5 miles with wild tm loaded and the clutch hated it.

It is very touchy. I like either the Mild or Moderate for normall DD.

It also is like the aftermarket turbo SW where the WG will allow more then stock boost.

For some reason I'm having a hard time not giggling long enough to type this.

I finally got around to loading the aftermarket turbo SW tonight (stock TM). Haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I might not ever get the chance... might have to go mild first.

EDIT: How'd the new TT look with the black haze?

I bought a turn down tip for my exhaust after the first three trips.

Try Wild and see, just not when you have a towing trip planned.

TQ management controls defueling between shifts, Have not quite figured out how that equates to a manual trans?

Maybe Bob will enlighten us.

In the early softwares it caused "hanging throttle", was fun, but as I get older, my reflexes are not as quick, almost went into I-90 on ramp on a red light. :-laf geez. but it was fun!

I like to think of it as a driving style. SW3 mild and SW3 mod, in theory are the same power level and have the same HP, TQ added to the rear wheels. The more wild the TM the more aggressive the fueling. At seat of the pants you can feel a hugh different. Too me SW7 mild feels the same as SW3 mod, but I'm sure the dyno will show something different.

moderate SW#5 I Love it, cant seem to keep diesel in my truck and my transmission hates it. Looks like i will be upgrading very soon cant wait to get a lift pump and a full billet transmission try out wild. Oo.

I commercially tow a 9 horse gooseneck~loaded 32Klbs gross 100K miles a year and I use the newest software. Aftermarket Turbo and Injectors - Moderate TQ Management SW# 1,3,5. Usually # 5

Thanks to the new software... ... I now have amazing power, low smoke and cool EGTS!!! FINALLY!!!

I do have Flux 1's,fully built trans and twins though :D

STOCK TQ MANAGEMENT WAS A DOG!!!!!!!!! Try moderate and work your way down to mild if its touchy.

I don't like the way it shifts on "moderate". The throttle seems to hang up for a second or so. No bad, but I need to re-learn how to shift. Gonna try "mild" one of these days and see how that is.

Cool EGTs

Sapps:

Yes! The newest SW version allows me to FINALLY use my power when hook up to my LQ trailer. My trailer is about 23K loaded, and I haven't been able to run cruise control with it; the cruise would pull in some throttle to make it up a small hill, and the EGTs would shoot up to 1500-1600. I installed a 63-13 turbo, but only saw about a 150 degree reduction. And, I could still peg the guage under a hard pull. Lots of power, I just couldn't use it. I even tried methanol injection, but it couldn't provide enough EGT reduction either.

Well..... Now with the new SW, I can run up any hill at speed (75-80) and not worry about EGTs. I have not exceeded 1200 degrees yet!Oo. Oo. I was just about to pull the trigger on a set of twins to help keep my temps down. Whew! This new software made me LOVE MY TRUCK! Now, I run on SW 5 instead of SW 3, and EGTs are still low!

Here's what I'm running: Stock Injectors/Aftermarket Turbo; Smarty S-06A Ver. 4. 11B, Data: 2. 11B; Mild torque management increase; Years: 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. SW-5.

They way I see it; Marco saved me 4K, since I don't have to buy twins!!!!

Some of you guys bash Marco for not giving you everything you want, but I for one am a VERY satisfied customer. I have a grin on my face that Ajax won't wash off:):):)

Ross,

I am considering keeping my stock turbo now and buying an exhaust brake instead. My truck runs very cool even when towing.

Sounds like we have very similar results.

Marco did a great job.

you'd be surprised the amount of power that is held back, even on a manual under 30mph. over 30mph on a manual, it's difficult to feel the "TM" in action.

however, under 30 with wild, you'd look like your learning to drive all over again if you don't replace your right foot with a feather.

I'm at moderate and I've "figured it out" per say and I can drive it smooth.

JCasper:

Exactly! I am even wondering if I could have got by with my stock turbo, and saved the 1800 on the single I'm running. I like it and all, but it does have some lag. But hey, I was about to buy twins, so I guess I'll enjoy my new single, and the Smarty with the "new and improved" SW.

How did Marco do it? I don't know, but my guess he truncated the end of the duration/injection event. Maybe he starts the injection sooner (timing advance), but also ends it sooner? I don't know. Just guessing. What ever he did, it WORKS! I can't say enough good about this new SW. :)

I'm still having a hard time believing that I'm keeping my EGT's to the levels I saw with my '01.

What happens with the even-numbered SW's? Anybody try an EGT check yet?

Anybody? I set mine to #4 yesterday but I won't get much of a test until next week. I re-loaded Mod TM tonight and I'm thinking of trying maybe #2 with that.

From the exceptionally short trial I gave it last night, EGT's seemed to be fairly low on #4 as well.

I see no point in running an even numbered software if your not stacking any other box. I only run the smarty so odd numbered for me. Odd numbered = timing = better chance at lower egts & more MPG.

I"m running odd number, #9 all the time with moderate TQ management with the TST.

The timing on the Smarty is impressive. . However, it could use a little more for thoses that use a little more. I'm running the TST with an additional 3 degree of static timing. I'm going to dyno 3 and 6 degree and 2-4 with HP increases.

Currently right now I'm VERY happy with:

Smarty (latest released software) on:
#9,
Moderate TQ M,
Aftermarket turbo software.

TST on:
HP 2
TQ 0
Rail (unplugged, has surging issues, with a modded FCA became VERY apparent). If it worked, Rail on 2 would be useful for better bottom end smoothness and faster ramp up.
Static timing at 3
Standard program.
Boost fooling on
No Boost or EGT backdowns

From 2500 - 3500. The truck pulls HARD. The issues with things turned up that much is under 2500 the rail struggles, but once you get that pump turning over 2500rpm, hold on. :) It's a large noticable difference over my 512hp edge setup. I wouldn't be shocked with 550+hp with stock turbo, injectors, and mostly stock CP3

Jason, I cannot run any odd software on my smarty with my TST on or I horrendous injector rattle at freeway speeds. (RPM's 2K or above).

BTW, I'm running the wild tq management, stock injectors/turbo and love it. yea 2nd gear is VERY touchy, and fun :D.

If your TST has the adjustable timing, you should be able to turn it off or set it statically to a low increase. If not, then well, your SOL :)
