By this time next month I'll be needed some new tires. I found a set of 6 for $1371. 00 :eek: but---

the guy also said I can put a 265-70R-17 on the truck. He said they are little taller and a little wider but they would not rub on the on the duals. They are more readily available and cheaper.

Anyone tried this size tire.

I don't know of any tire manufacturers who will allow a 265mm tire on a 6-inch rim. They can write that off as abuse (extreme sidewall flex) and deny you any warranty coverage should something happen to the tire.

265/70/17 and 235/80/17 are the same height virtually...

265's = 31. 606" tall

235's = 31. 803" tall

those are done with a calculator, so actual measurements may be different by ±0. 25" depending on how the tire manufacture reads numbers

jnelson, thats some serious mileage on your truck, you must run it for aliving :) That seems like a lot of money for 6-tires, however one thing I can't tolerate, is a flat tire or a dead battery. So good name brand tires are always better than cheep ones. A 70 series tire should be mounted on an 8-inch wheel. I think they will be too wide for your stock wheels, and might touch when loaded. I would stay with the stock size on stock wheels.
