Can anyone tell me where to get a polished aluminum high oil capacity diff cover for the Dana 80? They make 'em for my front Dana 60, but I cant find one for the rear. I thinking about going to the wrecking yard, pulling a factory one and having it chromed. I'd really like the higher capacity though! Thanks for the help.

Snyder,

I was lucky enough the buy a Magnagaurd Dana 80 cover about 3 years ago. Older TDR subsrcribers will remember it. It was offered in polished aluminum and your choice of powercoat color. I choose polished. The salesman advised against it, saying they will tarnish very quickly. He said their clear powercoat didn`t work that well. Air bubble problems ect. So I got 2 cans of Krylon clear and sprayed it. To this day it still looks great. Don`t have a picture, wish I did.

2 things you may want to try. Contact Mag-Hytec and see if you can get one unsprayed with the black coating. You can probably polish & Clear it yourself. I don`t know how rough it would be. Maybe they polish them before the black is applied.

Magview is similar to the old Magnaguard. Call them and ask the same question. They offer a powder coat color called "ball burnished" not sure what it is.

I`m with you. Plain ole polished aluminum or chrome looks the best #ad

The phone # for Magview is 877-624-8439. See the advertisement in TDR issue # 26 page 127.

Mag- Hytec you can just email

Another option is to have the cover Powder coated by Jet Hot or Airborn. Their Aluminum ceramic coating is real close to polished aluminum & chrome. The finish is industructable. You couldn`t chip it with a hammer & chisel. The ceramic coating itself can be buffed/polished for more luster if desired. These headers below have the ceramic Aluminum coating:

This should give you some options #ad
