A buddy of mine is going to change his differential oil on his truck this week (See my sig, it's basically the same truck). How much oil does each differential hold? Are there any products out there that you would recommend for flushing the differentials, if it is even necessary?

Any comments or tips are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Otis.

If it is a dana 80 then it is 4 quarts.

I bought the mag-hytec cover and that doubled the capacity to 8 quarts. I just drained and changed covers and filled. there is a pocket at the bottom of the diff and you might want to scoup out the last bit from there but that's it...

get your oil good and hot before draining and it will come out much quicker and likely get more origional fluid out . . :)

I just did mine last weekend, took 4 quarts in the rear and 3 quarts in the front. I used Royal Purple 85W-140, synthetic and built in friction modifier for limited slip. Cheapest I could find it was 6. 99 quart from Jegs.
