This would be a cool toy to have

I have to do one of the hardest things in my life tomorrow.

I have a Canon 3. 2 Mp but I dont like when you hit the button and it takes 10 seconds to actually take the pic.

What's the feature called that I'm looking for that when you hit the button it takes the pic at that instant?

Any suggestions? I'd like to stick to SD memory if at all possible.

TIA

Eric

I have a Kodak Easyshare. It's been a great camera. I suspect that newer ones are better. It will take a picture instantly inspite of the instructions to wait for the green light. Even if I wait for it that only takes less than a second. My son-in-law had an expensive camera (can't remember the brand) that was not as good as the one I have. He now has one like it only newer.

Most of the pictures in my Reader's Rigs gallery were taken with it.

I think its called Shutter delay or shutter response time? I had a fuji that was really bad. I used to try to shoot motorcycle races, most of my shots were of just dirt, the bike had already passed! Something else that bothered me was looking at an LCD inside the view finder. At 100 yards I could look at the starting line on the track and not tell which Girl was my Daughter!

I ended up switching to a Cannon XT SLR, now I have no delay and I can see what ever the lens is powerful enough to see :)

check out this site for more information on cameras. I took a quick look and I did not see the term you were looking for.

Eric,

I just moved up to a Canon 5. 0mp and the delay is less than my old one. I've found that disabling the flash will help a lot. I only use the flash when it's really dark, and if I need to I "clean" up the picture on the computer before I take it to print.

I suspect you might have the self timer feature turned on... look on the digital display and look for a little stopwatch symble. find out how to change it to a single square. I have the Cannon dig rebel SLR 6. 3 and that is the symbles on that.

I have a fuji and like it a bunch but found out that if you press and hold the shutter half way and get it to focus and then when you are ready to shoot press all the way, there is little to no delay. When other people use my camera they just push the button and the camera is moving by the time it goes off, giving a very blurry picture.
