I have two digital guages, one fuel and one trans temp. The guages have a wire to hook up to the headlights to dim the guage by 50% at night. Without pulling off the dash where can I hook up that wire. I want it to only come on when the headlights are on not the running lights or fog lights. Any help is appreciated. :confused:

The best way is to pull the dash bezel, and then pull out the headlight switch. Just solder a your gauge wire onto the black wire with a yellow tracer. This is the running light circuit, and will act as a trigger to dim your gauge. Pulling the dash bezel is real easy... On a '99+, it just unsnaps--no screws hold it in. On a '98, there is one screw to remove, under the power outlet cover. On '94-'97, the mounting screws for the ash tray and cupholder hold the dash bezel on.

Just be sure to use a reliable wiring connection. Best way is to solder it, and then seal it with some splice tape. Don't use any Scotch-Locks or t-tappers. They will inevitably fail. :{

Hope this helps! :cool:

The instrument lights are fused by a fuse under the access cover on the left side of the dash next to the drivers door.

I forgot which one but you can find it with a volt meter.
